About UGK a.k.a. Underground Kingz
UGK, short for Underground Kingz, was a hip-hop duo from Port Arthur, Texas, consisting of Chad 'Pimp C' Butler and Bernard 'Bun B' Freeman. Formed in 1992, UGK became pioneers of Southern hip-hop, blending rap with elements of blues and funk. Their 1996 album, "Ridin' Dirty," is considered a classic, featuring hits like "Big Pimpin'" and "One Day." The duo's unique sound and storytelling ability earned them a loyal fanbase and critical acclaim. Tragically, Pimp C passed away in 2007, but Bun B has continued to honor their legacy, ensuring that UGK's influence on hip-hop endures.
