UnderTow Arcadia at Century Grand 4.7 (1,602)

Was traveling from out of town and went to this place as a recommendation from a friend. The ambience was very cool. They had an actual drink menu which for a lot of bars I've been to seems like a foreign concept. For the price I was very happy that I wasn't served some watered down run of the mill fruity drink. The drinks served were thoughtfully crafted and you didn't feel like you had to keep ordering drinks. I really appreciate this place being an actual bar and not taking advantage of customers and actually providing a lovely experience! 10 stars!!!!

Hands down the best tiki bar I’ve ever been to. I may be biased but also make it a point to seek out tiki where ever I travel and undertow never seems to be beat. The drinks are well worth the value, the staff is super friendly and accommodating and the vibes are IMMACULATE. See for yourself 🤍 the perfect oasis to seek refuge from the hot desert sun 🌴🍹

After hitting the first spot of the night o decided to check this place out from reading the reviews. Its a cool spot and laid back vibe for being a weekend..Their cocktails are great and drink prices aren't bad for being in the area. The music selection was good and bartender was attentive. The crowd was a mix of young to middle age people. Seems like wvryone got along nicely. Would recommend checking this place out.

This place is a great addition to downtown Phoenix! It’s a creative container setup with a variety of small shops inside. On weekends, it gets lively with music, games, and a fun crowd. There are a couple of bars and food spots to choose from. I went a little too early, so I didn’t get to try the food, but I’m definitely coming back. They have The Stoop, known for their smashburgers, plus a pizza spot and a Hawaiian food vendor that looked really good. Parking is limited, they do have their own parking lot across, but it's always full and you have to pay. You can street park, however you have to pay for the meters.

My partner and I absolutely loved this place. So many great options to choose from drinks to healthy to a full meal. We are a bit obsessed and are looking forward to bring our friends. On our first visit there were a lot of all ages (including kids), such a welcoming and beautiful area. They even placed incense for the aroma which was unique. The staff is very friendly which was awesome.

They have some good beers on tap and fast service (to be fair it was pretty slow when I stopped by though) happy hour is 2 to 6 they no longer do it from 12 to midnight. They have church music and tower station on tap which is a bonus for me. Domestic beers are 5 dollars and craft beers are 7. They have a domestic beer + shot + bag of chips for 8 dollars but they were out of chips when I stopped by. They do mystery beers for 4. Also their menu mentions mini pints of beer which they don't really do anymore the bartender said. They have a big projector for playing games and several smaller TVs. They play live music which the bartender said is mostly country but also alternative sometimes. I didn't try the food so I can't speak on that but it looked pretty good and they have daily specials.

After a wonderful dinner at Wren & Wolf, we decided to end the night with our very first visit to Bitter & Twisted — and it was definitely a fun way to wrap up the evening. The atmosphere is vibrant, creative, and full of personality. The unique décor, playful menu design, and lively energy immediately make it a memorable spot for a nightcap. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the gentleman at the front door, who set such a positive tone for the night. He was incredibly kind, made sure to ID everyone, and carried himself with a professional, friendly energy. I respect the fact that he took safety seriously while still making guests feel welcome — it’s a great first impression for the venue. Our waitress was fantastic — friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the drink menu. As someone who doesn’t drink often, I appreciated how she walked me through different options, explained the flavors, and gave great recommendations. Her suggestions were spot-on, and I ended up loving my choice. One of the highlights was their complimentary Photo Booth, which was such a fun and unexpected touch. It was free, easy to use, and you can have the photos sent straight to your email — a great way to remember the night. The only reason I’m giving four stars instead of five is due to the pricing and group policy. The drinks are on the pricier side (though very good), and for larger parties (anything over six), they require one bill — which can only be split into four ways. They also add a 22% gratuity automatically. As someone who’s worked in the service industry, I understand the reasoning, especially for big groups, but it’s worth noting for anyone planning to go with a large party. Overall, Bitter & Twisted is a really cool spot with great service, a welcoming and safe environment, and a unique vibe. It’s worth visiting for the atmosphere, creative cocktails, and fun extras that make the night memorable.

They do not sell food maybe some chips but no actual food menu items. I love this place it’s such a hidden gem. The staff is always super chill. The beer is always nice and cold ! The atmosphere is always super chill. I have never stayed past 8pm unfortunately so the times I have gone it’s always before all the fun shows start. Looking to go back after 9pm one of these days to see what it’s like. Would definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a chill hole in the wall type of bar.

Was in town from Tucson for a concert on a Monday and decided to try my luck finding karaoke before I headed home. This place did NOT disappoint! Very much catering to an alternative/rock/punk kind of a crowd without feeling like anyone else is excluded. The bartender was a goddamn gem. BEST BAR IN DOWNTOWN PHX!! I've been to my fair share of trendy bars around the area and this bar has truly provided the best experience I've had in awhile. The atmosphere is trendy but not overwhelming, the drinks are delicious, the food is ALL amazing, and the bartenders are KILLER at everything they do. Seth was so friendly and made our experience really worthwhile!! I would come back every weekend if I could - honestly such a good experience that I wonder why anyone bothers to hang out anywhere else in the area.

The staff are friendly and we had a good time despite issues with the launch of the new menu. I was surprised that the new menu does not feature any Rose flavored drinks. The Lemonade Palmer mocktail was delicious and I was glad to hear they are keeping it on the new menu. My favorite local gay bar, my friends and I come here all the time. Great patio vibes. We also love when they have local food vendors and trucks in--I've had some of the betsy quesadillas and fry bread of my life at Stacy's from their outside vendors! Service ranges from excellent and friendly to just so-so, but that's pretty typical with easy-going bars like this and not a deterrent for us.

This place used to feel like home. Now it feels like the priority is to meet quotas instead of fostering community. If you leave an honest review the owner's don't like they'll ask people to artificially inflate their numbers. The only redeeming qualities here are the bartenders and DJs.

Went here last Sunday for the first time for a friends Birthday party. We had a blast and were treated like royalty. Service and entertainment was on point. Definitely wanted to come back. Just a few short days later on Saturday I was asked to come cover the AZ hip hop festival after party there by a friend hosting the event. WOW! What an experience! Everyone there from the door guys, security, bartenders, door gals, cocktail/bottle girls give stellar customer service. They make everyone feel comfortable and welcome. The club is huge and beautiful with a wonderful lobby all set up and ready for photo ops! The inside has a main stage with 2 poles for double the fun and surrounding the rest of the club is 5 more stages (I think) so you’re surrounded by beauty at all times. There must have been 100 girls entertaining that night. Each one stunning and so much fun! The music is on point. The DJ knows what’s up! The cocktail servers are on it!! The place was jam packed but our drinks never ran dry. Not just us either, they’re constantly on the floor making rounds so you never have to be thirsty while relaxing and having fun. Manager Ken is top notch. He made sure all night everyone was having fun and safe and comfortable. It was such a fun night. Jaguars is voted #1 for customer service for a reason. They are on top of it and Ken runs a great ship with a stellar crew who definitely makes sure you leave happy and want to return. Oh I almost forgot they have a full kitchen open all day until close! The wings were the best I’ve ever had! Can’t wait to go try more of the menu. If you’re a lady going to Jaguars, rest easy because all the gals are the sweetest and very welcoming. That’s not the norm anymore at gentlemen’s clubs so this was refreshing. Thank you Jaguars for an amazing night and we will see you again very soon!

My review is mixed…not even sure if it will make a difference to the owner. But 1st thing was the windows..there are dirty, as we drove by to find parking it was the 1st let down..2nd the booth seating couches were ripped and not just a little bit.. all the booth couches have numerous holes…3rd let down were the door girls .. they were under dressed, i believe they were wearing bike shorts.. sitting on barstools… man … you can’t call this a club.. HOWEVER the music upstairs on a Friday night (house music) was off the hook! The Afrobeats and Hiphop downstairs was alright..they need to throw in a classic song from time to time. I’m gonna continue my search for a real dancing club.. and yes both dancing floors are on the small size. A Plus you can smoke in doors.

It's okay. Too loud to the point everything is distorted. The banda alone can fill the club with music without having to plum it through the speakers and distort it. The One Where I Danced the Heartbreak Away Fresh off the breakup with who I thought was my perfect guy—my soul mate, “the one” (spoiler: he was not)—I found myself in need of tequila, rhythm, and validation. Enter: my ride-or-die Tucson gays, who made the trek to Phoenix for a weekend of emotional triage and glittery distraction. Our first stop? Karamba’s—because if I was going to remember my worth, it was going to be under strobe lights that made me feel like I’d walked into a J.Lo music video. And oh, did it deliver. The drinks were strong (just like my post-Beau glow-up), the music was loud, and the dance floor was packed with some of the most gorgeous Hispanic men—and some handsome women, too. The whole place pulsed with sexy, joyful energy that screamed: You’re hot. You’re healing. And you still got it. Bonus points for Jose, the mystery man I talked to for an entire song and haven’t stopped thinking about since. Jose, if you’re out there—slide into my DMs or meet me back on the dance floor. 10/10 would let this place heal my heartbreak again. Karamba’s reminded me that the best revenge is living well—and salsa dancing like your ex is watching.

This is a big enough space to accommodate hundreds of people, not thousands. In the hop/hop area there are too many drunk people and spilled drinks. The Latin dance area is spacious as well, but not enough dancers. Overall, if you just want to get out among 21+ crowd this might be your spot.

I decided to check this place out since it was a few blocks away from my hotel and the reviews were mostly positive. I got here around 10:30pm and there was virtually no one, the music was playing but it wasn’t lively even in the other rooms. I waited it out and after 11:15 ish people started showing up and the vibes were taking off. It’s overall a great experience, gets crowded on the dance floor and the music is pretty loud but awesome. Anime inspired bar. The anime named drinks are great and about your typical $10/$12 like any bar. Arcade games are available. Wednesday OnlyJams gets poppin starting at 9. I love the booth sections. Yes there is loud music, you’re coming to drink at a bar, not just to watch anime like you’re at home. Ran by Cobra Arcade management. A lot of people in the reviews upset that it’s not super “anime authentic” here. I’m really not sure what more they expected out of a bar. This is pretty much a bar that just so happens to be anime inspired. To a normie that’s not super into anime, it was great and good enough for me!

Super cool place to hang out. It's a small & the drinks are great if not slightly expensive for some beverages. Staff was attentive and nice. Their Kawaii drink was cute and tasty! Whether it was a problem with the talent or the venue, they didn't open doors until around 8pm, which I believe was an hour late? I understand going to a show and waiting in line to get in but we missed the first (& second?)opener waiting in line outside, waiting for the doors. We were there for Chris Webby and also saw EKOH and Whitney as 2 of the openers. Security going in was a joke. They didn't search anything, just checked ID and ticket. The sound was pretty good and I liked how it was a somewhat intimate experience even with 1,000+ people. Not a great place for handicap accessibility. They were pushing a man in a wheelchair through the large crowd on the floor in front of the stage during the main act. There has to be a better way. There is also nowhere to sit unless you buy $500 bottle service. The performers really made the venue acceptable for me. I don't think I'd come back unless it was an artist I really enjoy.

Leah14 months ago

They filled the building to max capacity and didnt turn the air conditioner on. The crowd was chanting “AC! AC!” I saw atleast 3 people pass out and have to be carried out. Everyone was dripping sweat and irritated. They make you sign a waiver with your ticket purchase that releases them from literally any injury, theft, death etc. and they lean on that heavily. So many dangerous things. Fire alarms dangling by wires, holes in the ceilings. Broken wood splintering on the walls, broken bathroom doors, metal barriers falling over, and worst of all hundreds of humans packed in too small of a space to even breathe. This is not a safe venue environment in more ways than one. We also waited in line outside for an hour after opening time before they even started checking IDs. Everyone was already annoyed before even entering. Lighting is so bad you can’t even see who’s performing. The layout sucks. If your 21+ you get put in a barrier in the middle so goodluck going to the bathroom, you’ll have to push past 400 people to get there and none of them are happy to let you by because it’s so hot and crowded. The snarky comments from the owner on all the low reviews really is the cherry on top. I’d be so embarrassed to have my name attached to this establishment. Then to have the nerve to reply “hope you find what you’re looking for at a different venue” or “this review is a lie” or “that’s a promoter problem not a venue problem” instead of stepping your game up you make excuses. You work hand in hand with the promoters don’t you? And then blame all the bad reviews on them? Every one of my complaints is on the venue and the establishment and I’m not alone. Take some constructive criticism or watch your business go down. Your patrons know how venues are supposed to run, so we have before and WILL again find better at another venue.
