Just stopped by for a couple drinks and loved the atmosphere! Cool place, will be back!
This was my very first time coming to this location and I have to say the environment is beyond chill, but the very best oart is the staff especially the female bar tender (I wish I got her name) she is super attentive and sweet. The best service I have ever gotten at a bar. I have family that lives here so I will return next time I am in town. I highly recommend to others plus the drinks and reasonably priced! Thank you OG!!
The best place in town. The drinks taste amazing and for a great price. If youre looking for a place that feels cozy with an amazing atmosphere then this is the bar for you
Great cocktail bar and bartenders that really understand mixology. Many bars in Athens can throw liquor together, these people are truly talented at crafting real, amazing cocktails. Every drink is made with quality, interesting ingredients, and crafted with expertise. We will be back!
Established bar & music venue featuring performers ranging from local to national acts.
Awesome show by Bonnie Whitmore and James McMurtry! Great staff great sightlines excellent sound and cool vibe make this the BEST SMALL MUSIC CLUB IN THE SOUTH! Highly recommended
James McMurtry was sensational! Opening act Bonnie Whitmore was great too. Good staff and excellent sound and atmosphere one of the BEST small music clubs in the South! Highly recommended
Many craft beers & cocktails served in a cozy wood-paneled bar with an outdoor rooftop patio.
No food. Just a bar. Small chalkboard sign indicating the stairs leading to upstairs bar. It was before a NCAAF UGA game day so the bar was empty. The bar tender was friendly and attentive so we had a good chat. We liked the bar for the bar tender and had a good time. It’s probably swamped on game day!
To get here you need to go through Walkers Bar (which is rustic and nice w a great staff) part of their seating is an alleyway which was cool! Then out back you go up stairs and find Sky Blue. Super friendly staff, atmosphere was awesome- academia but with natural lighting. Full bar AND great prices. I had Bookers on the rocks and it was only $8.
Cozy haunt with a homey feel, ample beer choices & handcrafted cocktails, plus a dog-friendly patio.
Always a great time. Folks are nice, drinks are yummy and the place is always busy. It’s a dark cozy vibe inside but there is outdoor seating with fire pit options as well! We have used the party room a few times and it was always great!
We came here because Automatic Pizza didn’t have enough seating and they deliver to Normal Bar, which is so convenient. We had 7 people around 7:45 on a Friday night. Normal Bar was already packed, but we got lucky that a table opened up right when we got there. The non-draft beer is cheap. Athens has pretty cheap drinks in general, but Normal Bar is even cheap for Athens. Good beer, like Tropicalia, will run you $5. I got the Killer Bee cocktail ($8) and it was delicious. They have darts and a TV. The vibe is very chill, with people just hanging out and enjoying a good drink. We will definitely be back here!
Chill spot for globally inspired sandwiches, vegan bites, local craft beer & inventive cocktails.
Had the best vegan Reuben I've ever had. The 1,000 island sauce was awesome! They also have a decent beer selection on draft (Low Key IPA by Two Tides brewing pictured).
Fantastic serving staff, really great food and a great vibe! 100% recommend! There is something on the menu for anyone, and I haven’t had a Coney in 20 years, but their vegan option put me on the boardwalk! Our main server on Friday the 15th was so professional, so knowledgeable, and so friendly that I wish I could remember her name so I could laude her properly! We will be back the next time we’re in Athens!
Great atmosphere and beautifully set up! Thanks, Brian and Thea, bartender, for taking care of us. Great place! Live music with Cam Norton. He will go far...very talented musician. The pimento cheese!!!!! Get one!
Great experience here after we left a previous restaurant. The decor was very plush and the ambiance was chill. Very clean and you could feel and see the attention to detail. I had the Bloody Mary with brennivin aquavit, which was a very interesting taste. I also had the Tinned Smoked Oysters which were a great after dinner snack. I plan to come back here when I’m in town with the wifee. Such a great finish to my visit to Athens!
Traditional British & Indian-inspired dishes served in a quaint English pub with a covered patio.
Just tried Royal Peasant for the first time today, and I can understand why it is so popular. The food was really good and came out quickly. The menu is small, but it made the choices less overwhelming. We sat inside which can get a little loud with the bar although we still had a great time. There is an outdoor seating area that I think allows dogs. I got the bangers and mash plus sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The only potential downside is Royal Peasant has a small parking lot so it can sometimes be difficult to find parking.
The excellent Google score brought us in to the Royal Peasant and I'm glad it did. Excellent food and friendly and efficient service from Alexandra. We enjoyed everything we ordered including the Nicoise salad, a burger and bangers and mash.
Buzzing downtown bar with a stage for live music & an alfresco terrace with a boat.
Visiting from out of town and wish I found this place sooner. It's a great place to get a drink (or NA/THC/CBD beverage) and catch up with a pal or even hang out and read. Good vibes, cool music, and loads of comfortable indoor and outdoor seating options. Kind and attentive bartender. Very reasonable prices. Stop here when you need a fratboy free watering hole in Athens!
One of my most visited and favorite bars/ venues /hangs in Athens. The building is beautiful, and the atmosphere is quirky vintage eclectic, and the best thing about all of it is that nothing here takes itself too seriously. The boat in the back is my favorite place to discuss the business of living. It's always a great time, and the staff is unbeatable.
Wonderbar is a staple in Athens. I’ve loved coming here for years and thoroughly enjoy my experience each time. Depending on who is working you’ll have different music playing, but the vibes are always there! Mary is fast and efficient and always looking to help guests as they come to the bar, even when it’s slammed. Thanks for keeping Athens fun!
Wonderbar has been my go-to spot since moving to Athens! The specialty cocktails are always a hit—you have to try the Starburst shot. The place is packed with entertainment: video games, arcade games, table games, and theme nights! Also Wonderbar might just have the cleanest bathroom in all of downtown Athens. Whether you’re local or just visiting, Wonderbar is definitely worth checking out!
Funky, late-night hangout offering local eats, cocktails & draft brews, plus regular live music.
Ordered the poutine with braised pork and it was either the first or second best meal I have had in my entire life and that’s not a joke. Absolutely incredible. Was my first impression of food in Georgia and it blew my mind.
Drinks were great. The Frito Chicken sandwiches was nice and crispy. The chicken and waffles sandwich was awesome! Only complaint would be that the fries tasted like the grease was old and needed to be changed. But overall I was glad I visited while in town.
We LOVE this venue for music, especially in the summer! The stairs are black and in the dark. I almost fell because I couldn't see the edge of the steps. Just a light color stripe at the edge would help keep you from getting sued and make me safer.
We attended a Micro Wrestling event here. The staff is friendly and the venue is clean and fairly well laid out. It's a little hard to find but worth the effort.
Have really been enjoying the biweekly silent disco at The Root! 3 channels to choose from for different vibes. Service can be slow at the bar when they’re busy, but drinks are reasonably priced and there’s always a good mixed crowd. The only bummer is how early they close! The parking lot can fill up quickly on busy nights.
This place has an amazing selection of whiskies and bourbons. If you're lucky Maddy will be there, she's the cool bartender. Prices are crazy reasonable for the selection they have there.
Cozy venue with a full bar for live music, independent films, art shows & other creative events.
Service could have been better considering how well I tipped but my 4⭐️Is because they should have prices for drinks viewable to the customers. Other then that nice place good atmosphere, i watched the band “Cuddling” play in the theater which was awesome!! The band definitely rocked!! Good vibes!! I’ll definitely be back!
This place is usually solid. Only reason I give it a one star is because there’s one younger girl bartender there (red head) that has a TERRIBLE attitude problem. As soon as you walk in and order a drink, she rolls her eyes and has a look of disgust on her face like she’s doing you a huge favor. I saw her belittle another patron once about how he dressed by saying “you don’t look like you belong here” because he wasn’t in townie attire I guess? Just extremely immature and judgmental behavior on the part of that one bartender. If you can avoid her, go and enjoy 😉
My absolute favorite cocktail bar of Athens. It’s my comfort spot, a place to take friends and family, go on a date, play a board game, ect. You can’t find a more beautiful atmosphere for a nice cocktail plus they make my favorite rendition of a bees knees!
Great atmosphere! Definitely recommend coming here! Drinks are amazing and excellent hand crafting! The bartenders are super nice and will guide you throughout your journey here with them! 10/10 (this is a margarita)
We LOVED THIS PLACE! Great staff excellent cocktails and a perfect late night hangout . Top 5 of all time dive bars in the US in my opinion
Absolutely the COOLEST LATE NIGHT Chill bar in Athens. Great cocktails and fun jukebox plus free popcorn.
Funky watering hole with churchy decor offering draft beer, cocktails, a ping-pong table & events.
First visit here..sister Church in Athens. Went for the Saturday drag show..and loved it! Very chill vibe..a nice mix of people and the decor? Amazing! I just danced all night sipping on some juice and had a great time! Will definitely return!!!
I just had a horrible experience with one of your bartenders—a woman with a dark bob haircut who was wearing baseball cap. I’ve been going to Sister Louisa’s for a few years now and have only ever had positive interactions with staff and bartenders and even know some personally, but tonight was a different story. I sat down at the far end of the bar with my friend and waited for the bartender to get to me. It was a busy night, but eventually someone took my order—not a problem, I used to bartend and know what it’s like to get backed up. Anyway, by the time the bartender checked on our end of the bar, my friend and I had been sitting there much longer than anyone else, and I mentioned that we were probably next—still no apparent issues but apparently this comment didn’t sit well at all. She let me place a drink order (just some vodka mixed drinks), and when they came back they were so watered down that even when several other people tasted them no one could tell tell if there was any alcohol in the drinks at all (not an issue I have ever experienced before at Sister Louisa’s, I’m used to the drinks being pretty strong). Anyway, after she brought the drinks out, she again scanned the same section of the bar where my friend and I were seated, seeming unsure of who to go to next. Since she seemed new and unsure of what to do, not to mention she had just gotten to me and was still in my vicinity, I said, “oh hey, I think my friend’s next.” Again, we had been there much longer than anyone else nearby, and the tone of my voice was not in any way belligerent or demanding, just trying to get her attention in a normal, acceptable manner. Up to this point I was unaware that I had upset her so much—I’m on the spectrum and do mean my best but can’t always read people right off the bat—but after I said this, she was visibly angered and disturbed. I noticed this and tried to apologize, saying “I’m so sorry, I really don’t mean to be rude.” Then before I could finish my thought she quipped, “well you ARE being rude.” Afterwards, she made the decisions to deliberately ignore my friend and even avoid eye contact with us, going to every other customer at that end of the bar before him—some of these people had even sat down while she was giving me the drinks I had ordered. Like I said, I completely understand being backed up and busy as a bartender, and I know you can’t always get to people in the exact order that they sit down. But this was deliberate and petty and completely unprofessional. I’ve never had a negative experience with a bartender here until tonight, and I would never interact with a staff member or bartender without good intentions or a good attitude. I don’t write reviews ever, but this was just completely uncalled for and truly disturbing. I hope this person was just having a bad night, but even if that’s the case, I don’t deserve to have it taken out on me. Whether or not the bartender misconstrued my words, this is completely unacceptable customer service, especially for a place like Sister Louisas’s.
Their Saturday happy hours is amazing drink prices. 8 bucks for a large pitcher of craft beer. Amazing! Food was pretty good too. Unlimited chips and queso is a must have! I will come back every chance I get for that Saturday special. Live music was just starting when I left. Looked great outdoor area!
The food was alright but super overpriced- all the items in the picture was around $70 but then everything was just drenched in the cheese sauce. We also happened to went on a promo night and tried the promo drinks that just tasted like water down sparkling fruit juice. Maybe it was because we went later in the night but the music was LOUD & it was hard to even talk without screaming. Overall, it’s a cool place to hang out (they also have a nice big screen outside for game day) but otherwise expensive, mid food.
Laid-back gastropub known for its craft beer selection & cocktails, plus updated bar food classics.
Food was wonderful. I agree- they have the best fries I’ve had since my Nana’s hand cut perfectly fried fries. Bravo!! The chicken sandwich was huge and delicious. The wings and Pub burger cooked as ordered and so satisfying!
We were in town for a football and stopped here based upon the reviews. It did not disappoint. The place was busy, but we were seated quickly and our server, Mitchell was fantastic the entire evening. We started with the Pimento Cheese plate. I had the Carolina Dip sandwich, and though it was messy,it had a ton of flavor. They offer multiple dip options for their fries too. The beer selection is huge featuring several GA beers on tap. Overall, a great dining experience that I would recommend if you ever visit Athens.
Love the new look! Friendly staff and door people. Andrew is super sweet and incredibly funny!
I had a good time here. They have good drinks no food.
Globally inspired pub fare plus craft beer & wine served in a lively tavern with sports on TV.
Catch 22 was recommend to us by the front desk at our hotel. And what a great experience! Phoebe was our server and was super helpful with some great recommendations. Great variety of beers and the food was incredible!
Honestly some of the best food I've had out in a while. I started with filthy fries, and they are totally worth it. Messy bacon cheese fries! Biased because they offered sours on tap. But past the drinks, I got the chef burger and side. Totally worth the surprise. Still not entirely sure, but it was a savory sweet double stack burger with bacon jam and a fried egg. My side was chorizo mac and cheese 🤤 And the service was great! Bartender made sure I didn't have allergies or any specific foods that I wouldn't want. Relaxing atmosphere, and I will definitely come back when I'm in town again.
Dooley’s is the epitome of excellent bar food with a relaxed atmosphere. The chicken parm melt is a hidden gem… one of my favorite sandwiches of all time! The bartenders and servers are great! Highly recommended!!!
Good little college town bar. There were no servers so you had to go to the bar to order anything. Had the Dooley Dip with fries, which was very good. We also had the pretzel bites with queso and those were awesome! Also tried their buffalo wings and those were amazing! The beer was cold and service was pretty good. Check this place out out!
Throwback pub offering beer, live music & pool tables in low-key digs amid a down-to-earth vibe.
Best historic dive bar and music venue in Athens! Tim the bartender is awesome and the whole staff is great. They treat the bands there better than any other place I've ever been! It is now my go to any time I go back home to Athens!
Great dive bar! A little trashy, but TRUE!
English-inspired pub with a relaxed vibe offering typical bar fare & a variety of brews.
I’ve always loved The Globe and its eclectic mix of intellectuals, grad students, alumni and professors. The food is excellent, with the Reuben standing out as a must-try and the tomato soup delivering comforting flavor that pairs perfectly with it. Drinks are well crafted, and the Salty Dawg in particular is fantastic, making it easy to see why this place remains a favorite in the Athens scene.
Came here on a Saturday at around 11:45 am. There were no issues getting a table. We had a party of 5, but it seems like most of the tables are for two to four people. We were able to pull up a chair to our table for four. The tables in general seemed a bit small. The food was very good! They had some really good typical pub dishes like meatloaf, shepherd's pie, fish and chips, some great burger choices as well! We also had some really good appetizers. The service was excellent. Our server was very open about what dishes he liked and didn't like. Made some great recommendations! I definitely recommend giving this place a try.
Cleanest bar in Athens. Impeccable restrooms. Friendly service and reasonably priced drinks.
First time to Athens. Gavin and Ethan were super nice and the music was great too. Had a great evening Friday, February 2nd. Would definitely visit again!!
So thrilled you are bringing the band Chelekis the 20th. They are one of the hottest new Indy like acts in Atlanta. Most excited and will bring in a large group. Checked out their song Problamatic on Apple Music today. For sure super stars in the making!! Thank you
Bartenders were usually quick with drinks but we swamped that place with people in its off season so they did great.
This is really one of my husband’s places. I like the atmosphere, the attention, there is a touchtone that you can choose the music you want. Here I learned to play billiards. And on Saturdays there is Karaoke🎶🎤 you have to know this place.
The Rail Athens is a Very good place to go for Billiards. 10 plus tables and 1 snooker table. Free darts and good food!
Wow, such a great spot! The vibes are good and the service was great. The bartender, Becca, really went above and beyond and took great care of us while we were here. I was super impressed by her attentiveness and awesome recommendations! Good service can be hard to come by today, so it really left a positive impression. Will be returning next time we are in town!
Great atmosphere, family friendly, fun music, good times!! Friendly bartenders and staff, great late night food from the grill, and THE VIBES ARE IMMACULATE!! Anyone who says otherwise is a punk 🤷🏾♂️ The best bar downtown for daytime family fun or late night turn-up sessions with your friends. The bar welcomes all regardless of your background and is a great place to burn off some steam or dance your buttocks off! The music will have you 🕺🏾🕺🏾
Great happy hour with excellent service. The atmosphere is fun and festive and the cold cocktails were perfect on a sweltering afternoon.
The Blind Pig Tavern was a nice place I got lunch at. It was very busy so the wait time was a bit long and service was a bit slow but it overall not too bad. I ordered a large chicken quesadilla which was really good value since it was very large and taste wise it was also pretty good. For sides I had cheese tots which I wouldn’t really recommend because all the tater tots became mushy after staying in the cheese. 👍
Signature cocktails & a variety of beers in a vibrant scene with large TVs & a rooftop tiki bar.
Sometimes you just want a cold beer, a decent glas of wine or a strong mixed drink — in a happy place with friendly service! Allgood Lounge is all that and a little more. Ample of bar seating and even a few spots outdoor. If only due to COVID-restrictions drinks weren’t served in plastic cups. Until next time!
In the 3 years I have been in Athens, Allgood has been one of my favorite bars. Every time I had been, pool was complimentary. Within the span of a week pool was no longer free, according to the bartender working at the upstairs bar. Many bars charge for pool, so this in and of itself is not a big deal. I asked the bartender why it had changed all of the sudden and she very snarkily replied that it had never been free in the 6 years she had worked there. If that is the case, which I find hard to believe since I have played pool at Allgood many many times before, then there certainly would have been a more hospitable way to communicate that to me and my party. I had 100+ people coming into town for my wedding and many asked which bars are worth checking out. I was planning on recommending Allgood however after this incident I recommended other bars (some of which charge for pool but have always been consistent and up front about it). Thankfully, they all had a blast at these other places!
Relaxed restaurant with sports on TV, serving specialty sandwiches, wings & burgers.
Food is pretty good! The steak was flavorful and cooked perfectly. Onion rings were a bit over breaded for my liking. Both salads were delicious.
We came here for supper on 09/14/25. Most of The food was really good. The Mac and cheese was very dry and unappetizing today. However, the side salad was great. Except that instead of just charging me to upgrade my regular side, that came with my sandwich. They charged me the whole $3.50 for a premium side. I get that if I ordered the premium side by itself, it should be $3.50, but just to upgrade the side that was supposed to come with my sandwich, and charge me the full $3.50. I do not feel was right. Then on top if that they charged me $.99 for additional salad dressing. Anyway, our experience overall was great!! But, Just miffed about the side being full price instead of a $1-$2.00 upgrade charge. Which is what the server originally told me. I would not have opted to do the side salad at all, if I had known between it and the dressing it would be an extra $4.50.
No food but drinks were amazing old fashions made by Ashley were amazing Moses was so friendly and respectful and the rest of the staff was AMAZING! We were there with our motorcycle group. CVMA from all over the United States Very thankful to all the staff! ❤️ Shrek and Fiona SC
My friends and I frequent this bar for the games during the week when it’s not too busy. However, we will no longer be returning after witnessing what I now understand to be the manager, on a hiatus yelling at customers. Very very bad look. I as well as all of my friends, don’t feel comfortable going back and I suggest you don’t either. Starland is a cool alternative and is across the street.
Their burgers are good no doubt but their Asian Tacos and Buffalo sandwich is on a whole different level!! If you love sweet potato like me, make sure to get their side of sweet potatoes too! They are seasoned to perfection and they give you a generous amount so it’s worth the $3! Also my go-to sauces are always bleu cheese and honey mustard, theirs literally tasted so good it was a cherry on top for me. Parking is limited but I feel like every local restaurant usually does. Give them a try when you’re in the area!
Food was great! I had the Mediterranean bowl, super taste 10/10. My husband had de diablo burger and it was so good too. If you are in Athens you must try this place.
went to boars to watch the Alabama game last night and walked upstairs to get some service. Noticed my roommate in line and tried to talk to her because she was by herself- that’s when the bouncer cut me off and told me he wasn’t letting anyone in. I told him I understood that they have capacity and she’d get in when she could. That’s when the owner came over yelling at everyone to get out the way and yelled at me for talking to his bouncers. I again tried to be respectful and told him I was sorry and explain myself, then he told me I’m “not pretty enough to act that way” and I was appalled. I LOVED this bar and it really put a bad taste in my mouth. I asked if he were the owner and he said yes if you don’t like it you could leave and I said that was no way to talk to a customer OR a woman and he pushed me out of the bar making me drop my stuff along the way before I even got the chance to let my friends know I was leaving. I will NOT be back. This was Very heartbreaking to say the least, especially with a $40 cover per person. If I could leave no stars I would.
Greedy, especially this guy who works there. Extremely rude and entitled, likes the power trip.
Ethan was the best! I recommend him to everyone!
I would rate this place 0 stars if I could. Go here if you want to wait in line for hours when theirs no one inside or if you want the bouncers to grab you and throw you around in line. We waited in line for at least an hour and didn’t move once while the bouncers screamed at us, grabbed and pushed us, and cussed in our faces.
Bar South is crown jewel of Athens Georgia. The staff is kind and accommodating. They even got me a bar stool from the back when I asked. They have plenty of non-alcoholic beverage options if you are looking to keep a clear mind.
Bar South is so damn fun. It’s a perfect spot to round out the night when you’re in Athens. The staff is kind and knowledgeable. On the weekends, when school is in session, it really gets going at 11pm. Plenty of space before then. This is a great place to catch live music. Oh and the happy hour is absolutely stellar - really good deals on some amazing drinks like SUNBOY Spiked Coconut Water which is only $4 at happy hour. Unheard of. Definitely check this place out.
I went to the bar with a group of friends this past weekend and the bouncer at the front door had the nerve to tell me that what I was wearing was not appropriate. His words were “ I don’t have a problem with it but the owner is lowkey racist and will kick females out if they are wearing something provocative.” He said this after the first bouncer already checked my id and gave me the good to go. He said he isn’t supposed to let me in but he did anyway after explaining that my skirt and see through shirt was inappropriate. Mind you, I had a tank top underneath my MESH top and I even had stockings under my skirt. Conservative but definitely bar night attire. I don’t know if this was me being racially profiled because he seemed to be a minority as well but I am just hung up over the fact that he opened his mouth to tell me why he shouldn’t let me enter the bar.. but let me in anyway? Me and my friends didn’t feel right giving the bar our money so we immediately left. We stood outside trying to figure out if we should confront the owner. I’ve been going to this bar for 3 years, and I’ve seen other females dressed in more revealing clothing than I was wearing. I won’t be coming here again. I am both hurt and surprised by this crazy encounter. As a female I should not being having a discussion with a man about what I am wearing if it does not concern him. He didn’t say it in a rude way but it was just an awful experience and quite embarrassing on his part.. other girls around me were standing up for me.
Brock makes amazing drinks. He’s my favorite of any night. Lucky if you see him on shift!
The website needs to be updated, came out on a Friday night, and they don't have country nights anymore.
This place blasts awful music at high volume until 3am regularly. They have no regard for the fact that they’re extremely close to several residential areas. The bass is so loud it vibrates the windows of my apartment, and I am over 600ft away. It’s the right of any red-blooded American to listen to trash music, but this can be achieved without disregarding the peace of the surrounding community. While I’m at it - who thought to open a nightclub in this location? It’s 100% guaranteed this place will close, because no one wants to drive this far out of town to listen to bad music at ear-destroying volume in an ancient building where multiple other night clubs have failed. Just give up already.
