Easy to walk by and miss this spot during the day, but The Bar is the best bar in Bar Harbor. It's intimate (which is to say not extra large) and it's got the great vibes of a classic "dive bar." Clean place, great drinks, and outstanding bartenders like Joe and Dan, who also happen to be local experts. They've also got board/card games and ask about the Roll-a-day.
Very fun little bar. Excellent bottle and tap selections for beer, and one of the larger spirits selections we saw while visiting the area! Knowledgeable and friendly bartenders, cannot complain!!
When traveling, very rarely do I return to a restaurant for a second meal… let alone the exact same meal. My husband and I were visiting Bar Harbor, looking for a casual lunch spot. Tap & Barrel looked like more of a drink place, that happened to have food. But let me tell you, the food deserves to be in the spotlight! They advertise “largest bourbon list North Portland”, but they don’t advertise “best burger and fries North of Portland”. Their Big Tap Burger and Parmesan Fries were truly outstanding. Perfect bun, perfectly cooked burger, with amazing special sauce, all next to hand cut fries with Parmesan, thyme, and a dash of lemon. Insanely good quality. Browse the menu, and you’ll quickly pick up on that it was crafted by a chef who has an appreciation for the art of food. If you’re in the area, or not in the area and are planning a trip to Acadia/ Bar Harbor, stop in. Great food, great drinks, great service, great atmosphere! And to top it all off, they’re dog friendly!
Dog friendly patio! Tina, our server, was phenomenal & kind. The food is AMAZING. It beats out several of the meals we have had in large cities. It’s a must for anyone in bar harbor.
We came here for pre dinner drinks and the atmosphere was so cool! We were able to sit outside and enjoy a nice cocktail without breaking the bank. The bartender outside was super friendly.
Great spot to sit outside and enjoy a beer or cocktail. On a beautiful day you could sit there and watch the people walk by as you listen to great live music. The Ivy Manor in is also a beautiful building. I stopped inside to check it out. One day I would like to spend the night here.
The best place for drinks in Bar Harbor! You won’t be disappointed. Service was great too. I tried a few drinks but the Sophia Loren was my favorite.
My friends and I had the best time at this bar. The bartender/owner was so nice and had so much fun music playing. The drinks were great too! If I could give 10 stars to this bar I would!
Traditionally decorated tavern serving up hearty Irish- & New England–style dishes, ales & whiskey.
Right in the middle of Bar Harbor’s hustle and buzzle, we grabbed the last outdoor table at Leary’s Landing Irish Pub — perfect for people-watching and winding down after a day of exploring. The service wasn’t exactly warm or helpful, but since we already knew what we wanted, it wasn’t a dealbreaker. I ordered an Old Fashioned with chocolate bitters — an unexpectedly delicious twist on the classic. My Shepherd’s Pie was hearty and flavorful, especially paired with Leary’s salad for a lighter balance. Meanwhile, my husband continued his personal mission to try lobster bisque at every restaurant in Maine — and Leary’s version earned solid marks as a runner-up on his bisque leaderboard. Rich, creamy, and satisfying, just shy of the gold medal. To keep it Irish, I finished with a Black & Tan — a bit darker than my preferred Newcastle-and-Guinness blend, but still a fine way to toast the evening. Bottom line: Leary’s Landing is a solid pub for hearty comfort food, good drinks, and prime people-watching. Service could use a smile or two, but the vibe — and that bisque — make it worth the stop.
I really enjoyed my time here! The atmosphere feels like a true Irish bar — warm, welcoming, and full of character. The beer selection is excellent, with perfectly poured pints, and there’s also a wide choice of other drinks. The food menu is surprisingly large, offering something for everyone. The service was friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. It’s the kind of place where you can relax, enjoy good company, and feel right at home. Definitely worth a visit if you want the real Irish pub vibe in town. 🍻
Family-friendly spot dishing out pub grub, seafood & beer amid kitschy signage & nautical decor.
What a great night! All the great reviews and recommendations did not disappoint. Hannah was our waitress and she was amazing. So helpful, cheerful and great recommendations for our time in the area. Our drinks were so good. My husband had Mule Nor’easter and I had Jalapeño margarita. Yum! Then, we had Lobster bake and Scampi Garlicky. My husband add lobster to the shrimp and scallops. We finished with blue berry pie and it so reminded me of my grandmothers when I was a child. Delicious.
For fun and great food this is where you go in Bar Harbor! Tourist town restaurants can be overpriced and low quality; but not Geddy’s. The staff was friendly, attentive and the signature chowder and lobster dinner with blueberry pie doesn’t disappoint. Even the corn on the cob was fresh, sweet and yummy. Thanks for taking the time to serve a great meal at a fair price.
Warm, welcoming eatery/bar provides burgers & other bar fare plus a variety of lobster dishes.
Pasta was fantastic! Portions are very generous. Staff was super kind & generous — especially Marina who was so thorough & patient in helping one member of our party with dietary restrictions. The blueberry pie we ate here (not pictured) was the absolute BEST we had during our week in Maine! It is a must!🫐
Extremely expensive. This place was noisy and the food mediocre. I haven’t yet found a decent place to eat in Bar Harbor. Still searching. The lobster, although edible, perhaps weighed 4 ounces. The lobster tail looked to me the size they typically discard when fishing, which leads me to wonder where they actually got the lobster. The steak was under-cooked and contained gristle. The fries were nothing to write home about.
High-end surf 'n' turf & pub fare with global accents in a quaint Victorian house with lush garden.
Had the Shepard's Pie which was excellent. It was authentic being made with lamb (most restaurants in the US turn this dish into an abomination by substituting ground beef for the lamb). For desert, had the Southern Sundae with caramel, Gelato, and caramelized bacon bits. The bacon bits were surprisingly good and went well with the gelato. Service was professional and superb. The restaurant is appropriately upscale and clean.
Exemplary meal, less the seafood risotto. Truly, the dining experience was unforgettable. The pork belly, the oysters, the steak tartare, and the meatloaf were all spectacular. The seafood risotto, however, left much to be desired. It lacked seasoning and should have more umami flavor and less of plain cream flavor. However, this was our third visit to McKay’s, and despite the risotto not hitting the spot, we will dine here every time we are in Bar Harbor!
Relaxed waterfront spot at West Street Hotel for contemporary Irish fare, seafood & live music.
9/25 - On a NE bus tour and decide to have lunch here. The wife had the seafood chowder & I had the corned beef sandwich, both were great. Service was good, prices were reasonable. See no reason for you not to give them a try
Family dinner after a long day exploring the town. The Irish Pub vibe was definitely more upscale, though still felt on point. 8 of us were able to be seated and served in a reasonable time. The service staff was excellent - attentive and friendly. Food came out as expected and for the most part everyone was happy enough with their meals. The summer chicken dish was phenomenal - paired with potatoes and root veggies which all tasted great. Fish and chips were also a great pick - very traditional one huge filet. The lesser favorites at our table included the nachos (on kettle chips) and the salads. Given the mixed reviews on the food, the price didn’t feel quite right. A bit expensive for the quality when there are other excellent choices nearby. We’ll probably skip this place on the next visit.
Local hangout offering pub fare, TVs for sports & seasonal outdoor seating in a chill atmosphere.
Our waitress, Lynn, was extremely personable, knowledgeable, & friendly! It's obvious she loves working here! My daughter wanted honey barbecue, but they only have barbecue, so she brought my daughter honey packets to add to her barbecue sauce-delicious! My other daughter has food sensitivities & allergies & Lynn repeatedly ran back to the kitchen with a smile to confirm the foods she wanted to order were safe for her! Additionally, she took extra care of my daughter since her arm was in a sling. All of our lunches were delicious!! You MUST give them a try-you won't regret it! Prices were great during tourist season in Bar Harbor, Maine!
This was a nice stop with plenty of classic and unique bar food options. What drew me in to come here was the teriyaki chicken sandwich which was way better than what you find at Red Robin’s. The cocktails here are also cheap ($10-12 each) which I would totally go back to.
