The cocktails are really good. The place has a good vibe and the staff are friendly. We learned that there’s a secret menu - which is basically the bartenders signature drink. We tried the strawberry shortcake margarita and it was delicious.
We've been traveling to Frederick, Maryland three to four times a year for the past couple years in this past spring after passing The distillery so many times finally stopped. It was well worth it. The bourbon is one of my favorites. They offer tastings in The distillery as well as a full service bar with really interesting mixed drinks.
Destination for an imaginative Modern American menu served in a sophisticated yet relaxed space.
After days of looking into the best restaurants in Frederick it came down to the wire to choose a brunch spot for Father’s Day. Hootch and Banter unfortunately does not take reservations but if you read the fine print on their website you will see that there are some exceptions for certain holidays (Father’s Day being one of them). I was excited to celebrate my father but also have a good meal. It took a little bit to get our table set up but we had no problem. Our host was FANTASTIC, extremely considerate and kept the energy high. She was a gem. My family shared a bunch of appetizers such as the empanadas, crab dip, and wings. The crab dip stood out the most. I got the burger and it was awesome. The home fries were a great touch. My family loved their dishes. We brought a cake for my dad’s birthday and they helped to cut and serve the cake. What an experience. They treat us like family as soon as we walked in. Look forward to going back.
The food was great, especially the Brussels sprouts — super tasty. Service was excellent, Amanda was very friendly and attentive. The burger was good, though I prefer a soft bun like a potato roll over the toasted one. Just a personal preference! Next time I’ll ask for that option. The place is small, but cozy. It doesn’t bother me, but some people might find being so close to others a bit uncomfortable when eating side by side.
Burgers, steaks & brunches are served at this compact gastropub offering happy hours.
What a great recommendation for a one night stay! Best deep dish pizza I have ever had! A great recommendation from the server on what they are known for. Flavors were amazing and so was the cucumber salad. Seating right away and great music playing in the background. I highly recommend this place if you are in town, especially if you are walking downtown.
Stopped in over a busy holiday weekend and had to wait for outdoor seating as we had our dog with us. Once seated, we were very quickly served - excellent beer selection! Although the pizzas looked tempting, we decided on the Rasta Rice Bowl with jerk chicken which was delicious. The service was friendly and professional. We finished our meal with the key lime coconut pie. All in all, a great experience!
Casual, brick-lined setting for globally inspired American eats & lots of craft beer.
Completely loved this place! Skylar was a great server! Drinks were the Beekeeper and the red sangria which we loved. Appetizers were the duck bites (delicious!!) and the crab dip (phenomenal!!). For dinner, we had the meatloaf and seafood pasta with old bay cream sauce. Soooooo good!! The only critique I can give was that the carrots in the vegetable of the day were undercooked for my tastes. Too firm. Wasn't a deal breaker, so I'll definitely be back! Would love a few more gluten free dessert options 😊
Wow! Incredible food and service. Location had a great bar area and a separate dining section. Great beer and dessert selection too.
Longtime Irish pub for classic grub, 18 drafts & 70+ brown spirits among wood & brick surroundings.
The fish and chips were very good. So was the bangers and mash. Fantastic happy hour price for a pint of Harp at only 3.50. Huge whisky menu. Large draft beer menu including Guinness Smithwicks. Appetizers Salads Sandwiches and entrees. First rate service.
Went to Frederick for the weekend, and the guy running the knife shop across the street recommended this place without hesitation when I asked for a restaurant around town for dinner. He said, "You must go and get the Irish Farmhouse burger; don't question it, just do it." So we did! My boyfriend got the burger, and I got their shepherd's pie. The food was incredible and served fast; they have a great staff, and while we weren't at the bar, I could see that they were all engaging in conversation with the patrons. Incredible place, quick service, great food, and a dedicated countdown to St. Patrick's Day behind the bar. What more could one ask for in an Irish pub!
Kid friendly go-to serving upscale pub grub & house-label microbrews in stained-glass-trimmed digs.
We stopped on our way through on a Friday. We parked on the street around the corner. We chose to sit outside. The atmosphere is very relaxed. This was my favorite stop all week. We had the salad with apple cider vinaigrette, and the crab pizza. The pizza was very, very, extremely salty. I still enjoyed it. There was plenty of crab on the pizza. Service was excellent. We sampled several different drinks. I enjoyed the crystal wheat. Street parking was free after 5pm. We did not have any wait on the night we stopped.
Cute little restaurant. Great service. I ordered the Caesar salad and the pita and hummus. I thought the pita was going to be fresh. But it was fried so not as healthy as I had wanted. I thought it came with vegetables that you could dip in the hummus, but, not really. See photo. The Caesar salad was fine. I would probably get something else if I came back.
They have a lot of great drinks options, some priced great and some overpriced. However the food is what I'd skip here. The tacos tasted great, however the "smash" burger was another story. I'm not sure how to describe it other than frozen meatloaf patties. It was not a true smash burger, and I'm not even sure if it was pure hamburger. They loaded it up with toppings and seasoning to try to cover up the horrible patty. Definitely skip the burger and just get drinks.
We recently visited a fantastic restaurant that left a great first impression with its unique tap wall—a self-serve setup with an impressive variety of craft beers and ciders, perfect for trying new flavors at your own pace. It was our first time using a tap wall, and the novelty made the experience so fun and interactive! The outdoor seating was a major highlight, with a relaxed, pet-friendly vibe that welcomed furry friends. Situated right next to a scenic trail, it’s an ideal spot for a post-hike meal or a casual evening out. The food was solid, with fresh, flavorful options, and the staff were friendly and quick to help. Highly recommend for a laid-back, dog-friendly outing with a modern twist!
Time-tested tavern offering pizza & other American eats, plus happy-hour deals, pool, darts & TVs.
Stopped by with my wife, at first we thought not bad. First off we came on trivia night, the dj was playing music on different types of speakers while the restaurant was playing it's own music. We started with drinks and chicken tender appetizers not bad but the fryer oil tasted old, I had the grilled chicken sandwich which was dry and cooked on a griddle not a grill, my wife had the open face roast beef which was dry and very overcooked, it would've been delicious if it was soaked in it's own juices. We then had the chicken quesadilla, with along with the fries was the best thing we had.
The Billiard tables were in good shape and very clean, just look behind you before lining up your shot, the food was good as well. I got the chicken parm and it was one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. The servers and bartenders were all very nice and happy to help. Parking is a bit tight
An amazing private club they have just about anything you want to do from karaoke to pool to darts even gambling machines. Food is amazing and the prices are good. Bartenders are great. Jess is amazing and on top of everything. Put my hands together for Paul for keeping such an amazing place. They have pool leagues on Mondays Tuesdays Wednesdays Thursdays and Friday nights so come join us on the APA. There's only one downfall and that's the parking. During the weekday evenings it's very hard to find a parking place close to the establishment because of the new fitness club. But other than that it's a great place to go with a great atmosphere come join us.
Great place to play pool, get some food and drinks, and hang out with friends. Also, have karaoke, darts, a few gambling-type machines, and bingo. Good for adult night out.
Crab cakes, beer & live bands offered in a neighborhood joint with Ping-Pong, darts & pool.
We have been wanting to try this place out for a little while now. Everything closes in Frederick so early so it was nice when this place was still open for a quick bite and drink on a Wednesday. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. My wife got the margarita flight and thought all the flavors were good. Food wise I got the club sandwich and it was pretty good! The pricing, in my opinion, was very reasonable and the portions a good size. Overall a really good time and experience and we are looking forward to going back. Also, they have a lot of specials which are nice so keep a look out for those. Would recommend for a fun bar atmosphere.
All around great bar for all ages. Feels like a college bar, but it’s more of a neighborhood institution. Good beer, good food, great service.
Longtime bar & grill offering seafood, steaks & modern American fare, with darts & beers on tap.
On Mother's Day I treated my son, his wife and two boys 14 and 9 to lunch - this restaurant is 10 minutes from their home. We were seated right away with our reservation at a circular table which we prefer. Drink service was fast, by Suze, who has a sparkling personality! Our crab dip and cream of crab soups came soon, both perfectly scrumptious. The main courses were superior in flavor and presentation: scallops and fingerling potatoes, filet and crab combination, a lovely chicken dish, plus Smash burgers for the boys. The 14-year old said he loved every bite. We were also tended to constantly by Jacob, also very personable. We sent regards to the chef and the owner came to the table to thank us. We really enjoyed our experience: the seating, the new decor, the meals, service and ambiance. One should expect to pay a healthy price for excellent food, so I didn't blink at the bill, which I covered - it adds up to a memorable family experience. Parking was easy and noise level inside was perfect. Best dining experience any of us have had for a while. We'll definitely go back!
Took my mom here for dinner on a recent trip to the area. The waiter was absolutely top notch!! The crab imperial was out of this world as was the crab dip! We will definitely be repeat business when we come back up to the area. Thank you for a great experience!
Intimate underground restaurant & lounge featuring American bistro food & live entertainment.
I really felt right at home. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food was good. I had the steak sandwich and they accommodated my dietary needs. The fried chicken sandwich was also a hit. It's a very cool vibe. I believe the waitress said it best it's like a combination of a speak easy vibe and Cheers :0) Not too crowded a layout and a good size bar.
We dropped in at a quiet moment and it was perfect after a hot day. The service was quick, appetizers and food were tasty and the drinks refreshing.
