Our very first dinner in Boston was such a memorable experience! My friends and I were looking for a good spot, and we ended up in a restaurant that instantly made us feel like we were on vacation in Hawaii or the Bahamas. The vibe was tropical and fun, with a spacious layout that had both a first and second floor. We chose to sit upstairs, which gave us a nice view of the lively atmosphere. The restaurant was not only big but also had a little shop area where they sold mugs, tumblers, and other fun items, it added to the charm. Of course, the real highlight was the food. We tried Wusong Pupu Platter, Sweet Chili Brussels, Chicken Satay, and the non alcoholic cocktails are painkiller, mango pina colada, and saturn, it did not disappoint. The flavors were fresh, delicious, and so worth it. What made the evening even better was the overall energy, everyone was excited, happy, and enjoying themselves. Thank you so much the server even if I don’t remember her name. She is the one who gave the good deal for the appetizer and drinks! It wasn’t just about eating, it felt like part of the Boston experience. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone visiting the city. It’s not just dinner, it’s a destination.

There was nothing I didn't love about this restaurant. The kitchy esthetic was everything. The cocktails were inventive and the glassware was fun and on theme. Went with a friend and it was perfect for a girls night. 2 cocktails and tapas in Boston for a very reasonable price. Plus, the atmosphere ... there's a jungle vibe with skull lamps and a tiger in a fez. The joy was off the charts!

Walked by this venue so many times and finally got to experience it last night. Very quaint setting! Tables are very close to one another and seating is tight. We did not eat here but the food looked great. Extensive drink menu with plenty of non alcoholic choices too. Very fair pricing! Very friendly volunteer run hosts! So great to have this establishment so close by!

Saw Christine Lavin here 1/31/2025. Had a great time! Came when doors opened and had a delightful dinner, gluten-free. My daughter also enjoyed her (gluten) dinner. The concert was fantastic. The place is VERY cozy (a nice term for shoulder-to-shoulder) but everyone has a seat. The price for reserved seats is the same price as general admission. We had general admission and had a great view of the stage. You have to buy tickets fast as there are only about 75 seats. The restroom is a bit rough, not fancy at all. Overall, I highly recommend seeing a concert here. You won't regret it. Oh, and it's an easy walk from the Harvard Red Line station. As far as I can tell, it is NOT handicap accessible. I think it would be tough even on crutches; you have to navigate steep stairs to enter.

Paddy's Lunch is a quintessential dive bar! Opening the year after prohibition, it's coming up on its 90th birthday. The place is small as are it's prices. However, the history and locals I met there were larger-than-life! If you have a few minutes and a few dollars it's well worth the visit.

Almost everyone goes to a bar to eat. I go for the ambience and experience (and occasionally, food). New Republic made the cut. Virtually every bar I've been to, is dead Mondays. Not New Republik. About a dozen patrons were present and the ambience was warm, welcoming, and laid back. I had a beer stared at my phone and left fully satisfied with the visit.

Visited this cool bar with friends to kick off our Boston visit after coming up on the train. Appreciated the flexibility in the whiskey flights, and the cocktails were strong. I think we just came on the wrong night, as the DJ was impressively loud and set up right next to the bar so we couldn't hear each other. Would come back on a chiller evening.

The back patio is so pretty and cozy. The drinks are pretty standard and basic, same with the food.. besides the Hula Burger, that burger is really good, lol. But the atmosphere alone is worth coming here.

Hans The Tech5a month ago

I stopped into Satellite for some quick takeout and was pleasantly surprised by how good everything was. The bratwurst was perfectly seasoned with a nice snap to the casing, full of flavor without being too heavy. The fries, though, really stole the show, they were golden/brown on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and delicious. The service was just as impressive as the food. The servers had a great attitude, friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to enjoy what they do. Their top-notch customer service made the whole visit feel welcoming and comfortable. To top it off, there was live music being performed by a great band, which created an awesome atmosphere. It was the perfect background to enjoy good food and good vibes. Even though I was in a rush and had to leave quickly, my overall experience at Satellite was excellent, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for great food/drinks, great service, and a lively, fun environment.

Nice little Irish pub near Harvard square. I went there for brunch on a Sunday. The catfish sandwich was good. They have approximately 13 beers on tap and a good selection of liquors. The ambience is good. Patio seating is available. Overall, a nice place to check out if you’re in or around Harvard square

The Plough and Stars is a regular for my roommates and I! It’s very much a classic local bar you come to get the occasional beer and catch up with friends. We usually come here for beers, but we actually got dinner for once as well. I think the big call out for us were the Chili Rubbed Chicken Wings. They were tasty and very crispy. Based on other reviews the brunch here seems to be good as well so I will definitely try that out next time!

Happened on this place by chance after Somerville's Porchfest, and was very glad we did. First off, unlike a lot of sports bars which have a few large screens and small screens scattered around, this has many small screens everywhere. This way, you're never out of view of a game. Saves your neck a lot of turning. Then, the drinks are pretty good. And they pour a beautiful glass of Guinness. The food was great, loved the fries with parmesan. Overall, an awesome place to grab a drink and watch the game with a couple of friends.

Shay’s Pub is a gem. It’s the kind of place you walk into once and instantly know you’ll be coming back. The vibe is calm, friendly, and just right for chilling out, having real conversations, and unwinding after a long day. The staff is incredibly nice and welcoming. Sean really stood out—he was busy as hell but somehow kept everything under control. You can tell he’s been doing this for a while because everything he did was smooth and on point. He made me feel taken care of, even in the middle of the rush. I’m genuinely happy I found this place. There’s nothing better than grabbing a cold Miller Lite after some miles around the river and just soaking in a good atmosphere. Shay’s feels like one of those places that becomes part of your routine without even trying.

Here’s a revieWe had a decent meal at The Abby. The food itself was good, but we had a small issue with the salad. I had asked to substitute the fries for a salad, and while I appreciated the option, it came already dressed. I personally liked the dressing, but I usually prefer my salads without it, and would have appreciated being asked. Unfortunately, my partner didn’t like the dressing at all and ended up not eating her salad. A small thing, but it would’ve made a difference if they had checked with us first.

Jea Kim511 months ago

Great local bar with solid drinks and great food. Among the bars near Harvard Square, Abbey is my first pick for a laid-back drink on a patio. It’s just far enough from the noise, with reasonably priced drinks and, best of all, seriously good food. While the menu doesn’t push creative boundaries, they do the American bar comfort food done right. Small bites like the Bacon Deviled Eggs and Pulled Pork Egg Rolls were tasty, but the entrée department was where Abbey excelled. Both the Salmon and Cod were outstanding—honestly, some of the best entrées I’ve had at a bar in recent memory. Each had an impeccable texture, almost as if delicately poached. The Salmon, paired with heirloom tomato risotto and a basil pesto vinaigrette, had a pleasant touch of acidity. Meanwhile, the Cod came with a potato scallion pancake, perfectly crisped and soaked in a shallot cream sauce, which added just the right crunch and salty punch to elevate the dish beautifully. The crowd at The Abbey skews a bit older compared to some of the livelier Harvard Square bars, but it’s worth a visit f you’re after a more laid-back, cozy bar vibe. It’s popular among the locals, so if you’re hoping to snag a patio seat, I’d recommend going during off-peak hours.

Loved coming here when I lived in Cambridge before the pandemic but it’s seemed to take a massive turn downhill since then. Still love the dive bar atmosphere, the bartender was nice enough and the music was… okay 🤷🏽‍♀️ honestly just felt like something had changed, the staff seemed sorta lifeless and the bouncers seemed uptight. Just felt like everyone here hated there job, especially the manager, she just seemed like she had a stick up her “you know what”. She came out to the bartender complaining about some other employee, then complaining about how long her commute was, then complaining about the band playing later that night, literally every statement more miserable than the last. Really turned me off so I finished my beer and walked down to Phoenix Landing. Word of advice, get a new job and stop bringing down the vibe if you hate it so much some of us used to really love it!!

The atmosphere is nice, but the food is very very average. The Bangkok noodles and octopus were overcharred, such that none of the other flavor notes came through almost at all. I had heard good things about Brick and Mortar, and now I know why! The drinks were delicious as was the food. I'd definitely come back. I got the pussycat drink ($17) which was delightfully sweet and fruity. The anchovy toast ($13) had a really nice green butter on the bread, and a perfect mix of olives, peppers, and anchovy -- a really nice combo. I also really liked the "pizza" ($16) which had a lot of perfectly tangy-seasoned arugula, prosciutto, some cheese, and crispy chewy bread. The deviled eggs ($11) also had a nice horseradish kick to them, and the bacon wrapped dates ($11) were also good, but I liked the anchovy toast and pizza better. I'd absolutely come back!

Extremely cozy ambiance in your classic dark lighting interior with lots of exposed brickwork and music playing at just the right volume. Service was excellent and two of my party enjoyed a couple of very well made cocktails but on this visit I opted for a can of beer . Lively Spot in North Cambridge with Solid Food, but a Few Hiccups (Really 3.5 stars, but rounding up) We recently had dinner at Cambridge Common on a hot summer evening, and while the food was solid, the service had some issues. Booking was easy—we used RESY, and the host who answered the phone was polite, helpful, and welcoming. The restaurant offers outdoor seating, which is a great option on a nice day, though we sat inside. We ordered the Buffalo Mac & Cheese, Carnitas Tacos, and a Fried Fish Sandwich (swapped with sweet potato fries), plus a Brownie Sundae for dessert. Everything was tasty and satisfying, especially the fries with chipotle aioli. That said, a few things detracted from the experience: • It was hot, and we felt a bit overlooked—we both needed refills on our drinks, and no one checked in for quite a while. • There was a screaming baby nearby. Not the restaurant’s fault, but it made for a less relaxing atmosphere. • The most frustrating part: one of us left a credit card at the table, and while we were away, the staff added a 22% gratuity without consulting us. We hadn’t signed or closed out yet, which felt presumptive. The receipt listed Alana Y as our server, but several staff members rotated through. • Also good to know: they calculate tip on top of tax, so if you’re aiming for 20% on the pre-tax amount, tipping 18% on the full bill gets you there. Service was disorganized. The food was enjoyable, and the atmosphere is lively and casual—but this isn’t the place for a peaceful dinner. We’d give it 3.5 stars if we could, but rounded up to 4 for the solid food, good vibes, and easy reservation process.

Came here for team dinner with a preset menu Spicy pineapple mocktail - 5/5 delicious Espresso martini - 4/5 good nothing special Tomato bisque - 2/5 too sour Steak and potatoes - 5/5 so much food, 14oz of steak is a lot to eat in one sitting. I got mine medium well. The steak was topped with spinach which felt like a random choice but okay. I would have liked the potatoes better with ketchup, something more acidic than the default aioli to cut through the heaviness of the whole dish Basque cheesecake - 4/5 less burnt than I expected, which meant less texture variety. It was just soft and fluffy. It was still good and came with ice cream, a solid end to a decadent meal

The wife and I were looking for a local sports bar to watch Monday Night Football, where the Detroit Lions were facing the Baltimore Ravens, and we came across 'Joe Sent Me' on Google Maps. Parking in Cambridge is usually a pain, but we were lucky enough to find an open spot on the street behind the bar where there weren't any NO PARKING SIGNS. We sat at the bar, ordered a specialty Gin drink and a Shipyard Pumpkin with the caramel, brown sugar, cinnamon rim. Had the Buffalo Chicken dip as an appetizer, and yes, you have to get it! For dinner, we had Crispy Chicken wrap which my wife said was really good and I got the Cast Away burger, recommended by the bartender, with a side of sweet potato fries. We took our time with the meal becuase we wanted to watch the football game, they had several TVs around the restaurant and 3 of them behind the bar. It wasn't very crowded either for Monday night, and they had oldies music playing throughout. The next time we are in Arlington, I'm sure we will go back again for dinner and drinks!

Man! I made the huge mistake of going to a different bar, and I'm on my way to the one and only Joe Sent Me of Cambridge. This bar is like Cheers. Everyone knows your name! Not just the bartenders, but even the regulars. I stumbled into this bar about 6 months ago and have been coming 2-3 times a week. I usually get their quesadilla, wings, or anything on the sat brunch (can't go wrong on that menu). I left for about 2 months on vacation and when I returned the Owmer, Sandy shook my hand and asked where I had been! I felt very appreciated and welcomed. Jen & Steph are great bartenders and will remember your drink after two visits or less! I don't leave bad reviews, but I will definitely not be going back to that other bar. Tell Joe, Cayes sent you! Be there soon! Oh, the fish and chips are great! Had it for the first time a couple days ago. It was so tasty I had to stop and take a picture! ************************************ Update 6/12/2025 Still my favorite place for fish & chips and wings!

An AMAZING cocktail bar, but the bar food is also so good??? Good portions and interesting twists. The messy fries with the chili crisp was SO good, and I LOVED the onion dip. Large selection of cocktails but service was slow because there were so many people on a Saturday night, and it was really loud on the first floor.

We stopped by late one night for our anniversary, and it was such a great spot- awesome bar and vibes! We tried a couple cocktails, and I can't recommend the Land of the Snakes dessert cocktail enough. It's coconut and matcha-based, and honestly, I'm still thinking about it..... The Messy Fries are a must too!!!!! Crispy waffle fries topped with chili oil, kewpie mayo, and avocado. Sooooooo good!!!!!! Definitely recommend checking out Longfellow Bar 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

Had such a fun night here—great music, cheap drinks, and the kind of energy that makes you want to dance. My friend and I ended up chatting with a couple of guys we met in Boston who showed us this spot to check out the Cambridge scene. We danced, laughed, and tried to talk over the music (kind of worked). Definitely one of those spontaneous nights that turns into a core memory.

This is a fun place that was just down the street from our Airbnb. They had football specials and we thought they'd also love hockey fans - they did. Isaac took awesome care of us and was the bartender too. My rum & cokes were awesome! Food was very good with great portions. We watched Rachel hustling all night - loved her enthusiasm. Leftovers! Must stop place.

The nachos and breakfast burrito were tasty. The Cobb salad was pretty decent too. The mushroom risotto was tasty for a few bites but then it got extremely heavy and impossible to enjoy. It was too full of cream and cheese, and the rice was overcooked. Portion sizes were huge! The place is well decorated, and a good place for lunch/ brunch in general. The vegetarian menu is limited. There was no waiting on a Saturday afternoon

My husband and I had such a wonderful experience at Russell House Tavern! We sat outside and really enjoyed the atmosphere—it was lively but still cozy. Our waiter was incredibly nice, attentive, and made us feel welcome right away. The food was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend!

Stopped by this restaurant in Harvard Square on a Friday evening and was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was lively with a great vibe, and they offer both indoor and outdoor seating. Despite it being busy and us not having a reservation, we were seated right away with no wait. Service was friendly and quick throughout our visit. My wife and I came in from Connecticut for a show on Thursday night. We got to the restaurant around 7:00, we had no problem getting seated right away. Our waiter was Alex. He assured us we had plenty of time to eat before the 8:00 upstairs show. He was very friendly and patient while he described what some of the menu items were to us. Once we finished eating the line started forming to enter the show. The doors opened and the line moved quickly. All of the staff are friendly and helpful. Inside the room there is a small stage in front and a bar in the back with a good beer and liquor selection. When the room was full it was difficult to navigate through the patrons to get to the bar. We saw Sir Woman perform. It was electric, the energy was palpable. What a great intimate space to enjoy a talented artist!

We, party of 4, were there Sunday for dinner. The service is really good from the host to the servers! And during our dinner came to the table a gentleman approached our table just asking if everything was fine, we assumed he was the manager. The food was good! Sundays they have a “One dollar oyster 🦪 special” the oysters are those little ones… but for a dollar it’s worth it. Two of us got the Salmon Pesto with broccoli and rice,I was expecting more pesto, the salmon was a little over cooked and it was more just like a piece of salmon with broccoli. The rice was dry. Our other two friends got Burgers, one of them got a regular burger and the other one got a double cheese burger, both of them were good. Drinks are ok and prices are very reasonable! I Recommend It.

I’ve just had dinner at grendels and have been here many times. I likely will not return. Our waitress was astonishingly inattentive and the food was lacking. Usually the chili is solid. Their beer selection is great though. What killed me was that the tip number was fraudulent. Per the attached image it listed various tip amounts as being certain tip percentages, but they were no such thing. A 20% tip was listed as being $18.00 on a $67 bill. You don’t have to go to harvard to know that is lincoln off. Despicable.

Great location and setup, really. I just wish the food was better. Quesadilia and fries seem to be the only menu item that are consistently decent, burgers are hit or miss. Ordered a steak sandwich today....would definitely not recommend it. Super overcooked, roll was hard, and the cheese was basically burnt...took two bites and left the rest. Drinks are usually good though!

Julia G24 months ago

Food was overpriced and mediocre. I ordered takeout. The truffle fries smelled and looked good but there was barely a dusting of parmesan and only the memory of truffle for the taste. The French onion soup had NO cheese and the onion flavor was far too subdued. I had to add my own cheese. For $16 it was NOT worth it for the price. The service was good but would not recommend the food.

Fantastic place for a show. The sound has always been spot on. For parking, Green st garage is literally right down a side st. $8 for the night. You can't go wrong with that. Been to Sonia many times for shows, and my only complaint would be more IPA's. And im not really complaining about that. The place is great!

Isaiah Falls was great. But entering the venue was not! Upon approaching the front of the venue I had a paper McDonald's bag with an empty glass nip bottle. The bag had gotten wet and the bottle fell and smashed. I was embarrassed and offered to sweep it up no problem. But at this moment the bouncer said "oh well that was easy now we have to search you". Keep in mind at no point did I or my girlfriend make an attempt to enter the building. I was honest and told the bouncer I had a couple drinks on me that I planned on finishing at a different location before the show. He told me I couldn't leave, finish my drinks and come back. Please keep in mind I was a paying customer, I bought two tickets! Also, keep in mind, not everyone is a drunk and people deserve dignity, respect and freedom. Lastly, the drinks here are very overpriced and nobody owes any establishment anything. At the end of the night I left feeling like I was extorted for my goods.

Sound is absolutely atrocious, is only good in one spot, is flat out dead in most parts of the club, and the space is set up in such a way that people are constantly shoving past you. No space to properly dance and be in your own zone without getting shoved every 3 seconds. Lighting is also FAR too bright - turn down the glaring lights - they are blinding and distracting. Also, the idea of letting in 19+ is OK, but if you're gonna do that, have some sort of door policy instead of just letting in every person off the street. Crowd is more miss than hit typically, especially since it's not like the u21 year olds are buying drinks or contributing anything aside from ticket sales.
