Wow, I'd love to see this in more places. It was so fun and I feel like it would be a great third space for folks. There are five coolers of alcoholic drinks and five coolers of non alcoholic drinks so there's a HUGE variety for people which I liked. We ordered the Beast fries and they were great. The staff even subbed out the meat for us. Would be my go to spot for sure if I lived in Grand Rapids!
Traveled from Florida and found house rules, and what a great find. This place is amazing with every board game you could think of, every drink you could think of and the most delicious food! I love the coolers with all the different options and the bartenders make some amazing drinks. I would definitely go out of my way To visit this place again and again.
Top notch spirits! If you are on the west side of the state and don't want to drive to Detroit to the original, you are in luck! Remember, this is a tasting room and no food... but there is a great place connected that has very good food. Many great spirits to try, and even more craft cocktails! Or even mocktails for your DD. My favorite was the Old Fashioned made with Catcher's Rye, yum! Absolutely great, friendly service!
First off don't be confused - the spirits room is located inside the 7 monks tap room. Second of all - Shout out to Rachel for being the best bartender and taking great care of us! The cocktails were amazing down to those potato chips! Something about tiki drinks and salty crunchy chips go hand in hand. Ha. We ended up buying some Dr Bird merchandise and a bottle of the French Connection. We would definitely come back just to see Rachel and try more amazing drinks.
This was so much better than I was expecting. Cassie is awesome and I'm sure she is the reason why POH is as great as it is. Food was delicious and excellent quality. Priced very reasonably as well. I love that when we asked for more of a few items she happily agreed and charged a very fair price for the extra items. The drinks were perfect! This was our first time here but we will definitely be back. Recommend the charcuterie board, bread and butter, and the burrata.
If you are in Grand Rapids, stopping for a cocktail at Pursuit of Happiness is an absolute must!! Their French Martini goes down as one of my favorite cocktails- think rainbow sherbet flavor with delicate froth. Soooo tasty!! Next, I had the Aviation which was giving me lavender vibes with the crème de violette- it was crisp and refreshing with the luxardo cherry! We shared the charcuterie board which was a fantastic spread and they were able to accommodate our gluten-free friends with GF crackers. Decked with modern, contemporary decor, they also have a display of perfect little trinkets for gifts, and of course, bottles of their house Prosecco to-go if needed (which yes, the answer is YES)!!
OBSESSED. The bartender? Iconic. Great convo, quick service, and made perfectly balanced drinks. They’ve got a decent lineup - n/a cocktails, beer, whiskey, tequila - you name it. I tried the tequila and whiskey, and both hit just right. Sat out back by the fire pit and it was giving peak summer night vibes. The inside? Looks like an art installation - super stylish and cool to look through. I really liked this spot and will absolutely be coming back! 🥃
Not a huge cocktail drinker but stopped in with friends and had a great experience. The Orange Mocha Milkshake is a must try and the reason I will return.
Mammoth Distilling in Grand Rapids absolutely lives up to its name. The décor is bold, wide-open, and perfectly on theme, while the seating is genuinely comfortable. The whole space has a relaxed yet energetic vibe, and the bar itself feels both stylish and welcoming. The drinks were a major highlight—not overpriced at all, and an incredible value considering the quality. I had a gin and tonic that was spot-on, plus a sample of their liqueurs that aren’t even available to the public yet (but will be soon). Every pour showcased just how much craftsmanship goes into their spirits. The staff couldn’t have been better—knowledgeable, patient, and more than willing to walk us through recommendations without rushing. They clearly take pride in making sure guests leave happy. While the back patio looked amazing (and was bustling when we visited), the inside was where the magic happened for us. Between the atmosphere, the service, and the drinks, this place is already on my must-stop list whenever I’m in Grand Rapids. Can’t wait to come back and try more of what Mammoth has to offer!
Wonderful spot to get a crafted drink or two . Rustic design with very comfortable open space to enjoy your drink. Price is $1 or 2 lower than usual for a cocktail I think. Mammoth makes good gin and rye whiskey.
Classy, intimate bar serving a selection of seasonal, handcrafted cocktails, plus wine & beer.
Absolutely loved our experience at SidebarGR — hands down the best speakeasy in Grand Rapids! From the moment you step in, you’re transported to a cozy, classy hideaway that feels both exclusive and inviting. What really stood out was the bartending — not just the skill, but the passion. After hearing the bartender’s take on the Old Fashioned, I let him make it his way — and it might be one of the best I've had. Balanced, bold, and beautifully smooth. Two of my friends described what they were in the mood for, and the bartender crafted custom cocktails for each of them — both drinks were spot on and had them raving the rest of the night. If you’re in Grand Rapids and want a cocktail experience that goes beyond the ordinary, SidebarGR is a must. Expert mixology, great atmosphere, and personalized service that makes you feel like a regular — even on your first visit.
The best cocktail bar in GR ! The folks know their game and can make any drink you ask. Recently expanded their seating capacity which is great 👏🏽 Everyone is very passionate and makes great drinks !
I had an incredible time at Twisted Tap Brewing in Grand Rapids, Michigan! The maple smoked whiskey was absolutely amazing—smooth, rich, and bursting with unique flavor. The bartenders were fantastic, keeping the atmosphere fun and filled with laughter, making the night truly unforgettable! Highly recommend this gem!
We were in town visiting and just happened to walk by this bar. We went in for a drink and loved the cozy atmosphere. We met Sam, the bartender. She was great ! They made us feel very welcomed. The drinks were great as well. Highly recommend stopping in.
We started with crab cakes and steak tartare. Both were excellent. Cocktails were spot on. I had scallops with risotto for my meal. The risotto was quite salty, but the scallops were perfect. When they learned my risotto was too salty they put a credit towards our bill. The asparagus with whipped feta was super delicious. The service was superb. One of our cocktails took a bit to come out and our server let us know they weren’t going to charge us for it. We didn’t even notice and never had to ask. Overall, an excellent experience. I can’t wait to go back!
My wife and I went on a busy Saturday night, the wait was only about an hour for a table for two. We both were craving pasta, so I had the Crab Lumache (white sauce picture) and my wife had the Short Rib Ravioli (red sauce pasta). Both were SO delicious. We also had the Potato Gratin, and the Parker House Rolls. Can't stress enough - GET THE ROLLS. Can't wait to go back and try the steaks.
My sister and I visited on a Friday night so parking wasn’t fun but we did find one closer than we thought we would! We walked in and it was seat yourself so we grabbed a booth. We were told right away that in an hour there would be a cover charge starting for a live DJ which was nice to have the warning for. We ordered drinks and food right away. They have quite a few drinks that looked delicious! Their menu was limited but we both found something that looked good. We only waited a minute or two for drinks and our food came out quickly. The food was really good! My sister and I always share our choices and we both had different favorites. Overall it had a great atmosphere and the staff was really friendly! Definitely recommend checking out General Wood Shop if you’re looking for a bar downtown!
The vibe is on point af and the menu is absolute fire [I LOVE these titles] - but LEGIT...the mock cocks [teehee] were literally some of the best beverages I have ever had. The Pinkity Drinkity is I STG the best. Amazing. CA LV is an amazing asset to this establishment and I'm really stoked to see where he and his team continue to take it.
Drip Drop has quickly become my favorite cocktail spot in Grand Rapids. The drinks are always amazing, and the atmosphere is super intimate. I highly recommend this place as an after dinner location. I regularly hit it up after eating across the street at Butcher's. I love sitting at the bar and having Connor and Johnny talk about the different drinks they are making and ideas they have for new menu items. Nick, one of the owners, is always friendly and welcoming, and it's easy to tell how passionate he is about cocktails and Drip Drop.
Drip Drop is hands down one of the best cocktail spots in Grand Rapids. The space itself is gorgeous! It's cozy, stylish, and the perfect vibe whether you’re on a date night or just grabbing drinks with friends. You can tell the bartenders know their craft inside and out. What really makes this place shine, though, is the staff. They’re not just talented, they’re genuinely welcoming and passionate about what they do. I’ve always felt taken care of and never rushed. They’re happy to talk through the menu, recommend something new, or even craft something custom based on your preferences. Drip Drop has quickly become one of my favorite spots in the city. If you’re looking for top-tier cocktails and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay all night, this is the place.
We had a great dinner here; we had the chicken bacon ranch wrap and the Ruben, both of which were good and the fries especially were delicious! Our server was Jess, who was super nice and very helpful. The atmosphere was low key and welcoming, and the bathrooms and bar area were both very clean. The only thing I didn’t love was the music was quite loud, especially for early evening.
Literally I have not had a better burger in a restaurant/sports bar than Glass House. I am not from here, decided to check the reviews and decided to stop by. The Ultimate grilled cheese bacon burger, is the option to choose! Jess was an amazing server, provided great suggestions for places to visit. I will be back!!
Laid-back bar with a kitschy vibe features pinball machines & a live rock venue in back.
The Pyramid Scheme easily rivals as one of my favorite venues in downtown Grand Rapids. I have seen several shows here. The most recent was the Death is Little More tour with Boundaries, Stick to your Guns, Gates to Hell and Psycho-frame. Shows always run in a timely manner, with lines moving fluidly, pinball machines singing and drinks flowing from the bar. Highly recommend catching a show that suits your tastes, here!
I like the Pyramid Scheme venue mostly because for its size it offers just as much as the larger venues but without the congestion and prices. I have had the opportunity to see smaller acts like Mother Mother, Good Terms, Have Mercy to larger acts like Emery, Living Color, and Baroness. Before the show you can get a drink, play some pinball, and if you're lucky meet the bands in the lot. If you have some time to burn Stella's across the street has some great food so sit back and enjoy the show and ambiance. Always a great time.
Neighborhood pub renowned for its 200+ microbrews dishes up New American fare amid a mellow vibe.
POUTINE WEEK 2025. - 2025 Poutine Week - Pot Roast Poutine – $16.00: Generally, the poutine was standard, medium quality, but perfectly balanced with all the elements. The fries were medium to thick cut and mediumish quality fries. The white cheddar cheese curds were great, but might have been better on top so they don’t melt since the squishy texture is what makes the curds special in poutine. The beef and gravy were succulent. They also added two cooked carrots which I think matched and added a great robust homestyle flavor. The onions were not as noticed but good. Comparing this to other contenders, I sit on the fence. While the quality is not there, it is the largest portion I tried so far, though not by a wide margin. Water was served in glass containers with straws. - Service: It was table service, but it was a bit distracted. We did not get menus, but that was probably because I was wearing my Poutine Week shirt and quickly ordered the poutine. Everything was as ordered and we had our water filled at all times. The poutine was served VERY quickly. - Atmosphere: Fairly standard bar with loud music. It was very difficult to talk, but that depends on why you are there. It was a bit looser atmosphere, but still clean for how busy it was. We sat at a table with a bench seat and chair. They also had standard tables and chairs, taller tables with chairs, bar seating, and outdoor seating. - Conclusion: If you like a place to hang out, listen to loud music, and be whatever, this is your place. Visited during Poutine Week 2025 on a Wednesday at 6pm.
The best classy "dive bar" I've ever been to. What a happening place this is. I highly recommend stopping here if you're in the area to grab a bite to eat or have a cold beverage. The service is fast and friendly whether the place is packed or only a bar full of people.
Great vibes & fun outdoor patio. Son had the quesadilla & chips/guac & enjoyed. Drinks were good! Wasn't super busy when we came, not sure why bc it's a cool place. We'd def come back💗
We've been a fan of the original Broad Leaf for years and were very excited to try the new Bridge street location. Fortunately, our visit was excellent! The ambiance is great, similar to the old Sovengard but with a breath of fresh life. The food is top notch. The pork belly ramen is the best we've ever had, and the burger was as good as you find around here. The service is fine, and despite it being fairly busy there was no delay for food or drinks. Definitely recommend taking a visit to Broad Leaf Westside!
Speakeasy-inspired lounge offering live music & New American eats, plus modern & old-time cocktails.
Good food. The mixed drinks are served well and the bartenders do a great job, both with their mixing and their attentiveness. Overall, a good atmosphere, but likely better for groups larger than 1-2 people as it's not an intimate setting.
Stopped in for drinks while on vacation. Great experience and atmosphere. The waitress was very helpful and friendly. Can't comment on food since the kitchen was closed. It was a late night cap. Highly recommend 💚💯💯
Great local dive bar. Great service. Great drinks
Wholesome, safe, and old school. This bar is a great place to just be yourself.
Burgers & beers offered in a low-lit, wood-lined space with a small stage for live music.
This is one of my favorite places to see music yet! It's tiny and intimate. Good drinks. Decent food. Farmer John to be emcee. You couldn't ask for a better night out!
For a dive bar, this place rocks. We have been here several times, but this time we saw Duke Tumatoe in concert and he is fabulous! He was very popular in the late 70’s and early 80’s. He is 78 now and can still rock! This bar has great entertainment, but there are tickets involved. Some patrons left without paying the ticket price of $15, which we thought was a bargain! Our waitress was either high or simply inept. The food was good with one cook in the kitchen for over 100 patrons in attendance. We did have to ask the older blonde waitress for help since her younger brunette co-worker was terribly confused. People had come from as far as Chicago for this concert and the music did not disappoint.
Craft beer on tap & American comfort food supplied in a corner location with 1930s-era accents.
This was a fantastic local spot, within walking distance of the place we were staying in while visiting Grand Rapids. From the TV screen that was dedictated flipping through pictures of dogs, to the fun/interesting drink names that encouraged us to try something different, Blue Dog Tavern has more to offer than the "pub/bar food" you'd normally expect. The Cajun chicken flatbread and poutin tots were absolutely incredible! Definitely a great bar to check out when you're looking for a quick bite or a relaxing place you hang out for a bit!
Very nice stop for lunch! We sat out on the patio. All the food was great. I had the Onion Burger (and should have removed the top bun for the picture). Dogs are welcome and encouraged on the patio. Water bowls are available.
Elevated comfort food & beer on tap featured in a trendy, laid-back space with a patio fireplace.
What a gem! We stopped into Westside Social not knowing what to expect, and we walked out absolutely impressed! The vibe is spot on, a perfect balance between a lively sports bar, a fun place to hang out with friends, and a casual family-friendly spot. The decor is warm and modern, with a welcoming “SOCIALIZE” sign that really captures the spirit of the place. Our waitress was a total standout bubbly, personal, and genuinely engaging with everyone at our table (and others!). She was super attentive and made us feel like regulars, even though it was our first time. Now, let’s talk food… WOW. The burgers were absolutely phenomenal. Juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. You can tell they take pride in what they serve. We were honestly pleasantly surprised at how good everything was. The Steakhouse Burger with sautéed mushrooms and roasted garlic aioli was next-level delicious, and the fries were crispy, golden, and perfectly seasoned. And my drink? The Georgia Lemonade, so refreshing, so flavorful, and dangerously smooth. I loved it so much I had two. 🍑🍋 We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. If you’re looking for great food, great drinks, and a vibrant, friendly atmosphere, Westside Social delivers on all fronts. Highly recommend!
This spot is hands down one of the best burger joints around. The burgers are juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection every single time. You can tell they use fresh ingredients, from the toasted buns to the crisp toppings. The menu has plenty of options, but even the classic cheeseburger feels special here. Pairing it with their fries or a milkshake makes the whole meal a treat worth coming back for.
The Elbow Room gets my vote for best bar burger in GR !! It’s huge , and absolutely perfect, delicious. Service is excellent, nice atmosphere. Very comfortable booths . Passed by lots of times, I will definitely stop here again. Highly recommended.
This is a staple in the dive bar scene of Grand Rapids! 🍻 Amazing food, drinks and service. The prices are fair and atmosphere is warm & welcoming!
Buzzing watering hole with art-adorned red walls, classic arcade games & outdoor tables.
My friend and I evidently arrived before the crowds, but Meanwhile quickly got busy after that. It was our first time there, and it’s quite the happening place. There are movie posters from a local designer all over the place, and it almost feels like a diner. They have a nice draught list, and although there’s often a line it moves pretty fast. I think the crowd tends to be on the younger side, but I didn’t feel uncomfortable. It seems like quite a nice bar to me, and I’d be happy to visit again.
Best bar in the city bar none. Love Tammy Vandenberg 's ownership she's a local public servant and she rocks!
Good burger. Great value on Tuesdays if you have kids. - Big E’s Prime Burger- $16: 7 oz patty ordered medium, but it was medium-well. It was still VERY juicy, though. The bun was a star compliment with full and filling body and yet soft. The toppings were fresh and delicious, but the long and super thin onions tried escaping and other toppings tried following suit. The cheese was melted well and just the right amount. The value is debatable. I feel like I received what I ordered generally and it was worth it, but compared to other places, it could be a dollar or two less. With the free kids meal on Tuesdays, it made it worth it, though. - Fries - $2 extra: Basic golden fries, thinner cut. It was a standard serving and warm to the last fry. They were salted almost perfectly (and I am picky) and cooked spot on. They tasted great, too. - Cheeseburger Kids Meal - $7 (free on Tuesdays with adult entree): Took my son and he got his meal for free with my burger purchase. It was actually fairly big for the normal price and plenty of fries. He thought it was good and filling. It even comes with a drink! They also have an all you can eat buffet, but only for lunches on weekdays (I asked). - Service: Service was amazing and everything was accurate (though I think the way I wanted my burger may have been missed). Everything was as quick as you’d expect with a sit down restaurant and they were helpful for sure. - Atmosphere: Large modern sports bar with lots of screens and various sports playing. Music was at a minimum, but it probably isn’t that way normally. Everything was clean and in tip top shape. They have booths as well as tables with chairs (high standing or standard). There was also a bar. - Conclusion: I’d recommend it. If you have kids, I’d definitely come on Tuesdays. Visited on a Tuesday at 5pm.
We had such a great experience at Big E’s Sports Grill in downtown Grand Rapids! Kenzie, our bartender, was fantastic — friendly, attentive, and made amazing drinks. Hailey, our waitress, gave us top-notch service and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was outstanding! The nachos were loaded and had just the right amount of spice, and the chicken Caesar wrap with sweet potato fries was fresh, flavorful, and so satisfying. Highly recommend stopping in for great service, great drinks, and great food!
Looking for a good craft cocktail spot in the Grand Rapids area, check out The Nightwatch Lounge. This location uses a mixologists approach to cocktails, as all syrups, citrus, and garnishes are prepared in-house. Drinks are well balanced and flavorful. The staff here is very welcoming, and as a result, customer service is outstanding. Drinks only, so plan solid sustenance accordingly. Check for times and hours of operation. Weekends and evenings get busy. It's definitely worth a look, cheers, and I'll see you there.
The night watch is an experience like no other! It has a speakeasy vibe, tucked away and easily missed, making it a hidden gem. The interior is incredibly cute, with a moody atmosphere, great lighting, and cocktails that are simply incredible. Just be prepared to pay around $20 per cocktail, as it’s definitely an expensive experience, but I believe it’s well worth it! On a side note, the staff was a bit cold and seemed a bit unfriendly, which may have just been an off night. I’d definitely go back sometime. If you’re looking for a fun date spot or a nightcap with friends, definitely give the night watch a try!
Live-music venue established in 1972 featuring a wide range of bands, including hip-hop & rock.
Got to reserve a seat for Highdeas, Grieves,Trodelic & Artikal Sound System concert but Totally worth it! Good metal bar seat & table for drinks! And they have a designated server to bring you drinks. It's totally worth the splurge, 3 seats to the bar top tables. Drinks aren't terribly expensive $15 for 1 White Claw & 1 Miller Lite. Nice Venue. 2 minute walk from Canopy hotel which is super nice.
Small venue and I loved it. The music sounded fantastic and the bar service was great. Parking was close by, and the staff was all very kind. Would love to come back for another show.
Down-to-earth bar providing standard pub grub, TVs & a welcoming neighborhood vibe.
Great Friday fish dinner. Our server was awesome, always had time to check on us even though it was very busy. Great happy hour specials also.
I just had drinks during my visit, but I loved the atmosphere. It’s just what I want a dive bar to be: comfortable, casual, and straightforward. Prices were very reasonable, and the staff was friendly enough. The bar was pretty cool with all the money decorating the walls. Birch Lodge makes a nice escape from the usual.
American grub, craft beer & cocktails served in easygoing surrounds with a long bar & a pool table.
A standard out meal, of a Poppyseed Salad with Grilled Chicken as a Protein. The salad was delivered so large I could only finish a little less than half. Great food selections overall and a fantastic kitchen. Everything they put out is top of best. The wait staff delivers with smiles and a welcoming touch. I just can not say enough. The owner, Kevin runs a Fantastic Bar & Grill.
Delicious comfort food in a fun, cozy spot! Grand Rapids Garage Bar and Grill is such a cute, quaint spot with tons of atmosphere. It has that cozy, welcoming vibe that makes you want to linger. ✨ The chicken tenders? Juicy, tender, and cooked just right. ✨ The pickle chips? Over-the-top delicious—crispy, addictive, and a must-order! This is the kind of place that feels both fun and comfortable, and I’d definitely come back for both the food and the vibe.
Met a couple pool playing locals and checked out the awesome wall of records they have in there. Didn't have time a drink unfortunately, but every guy slumped at the bar looked well endowed with adult beverages. But I will say nobody beat me up LOL so that's nice right? If I ever make my way out to Michigan I'm definitely going to stop in and talk to every single person next time.
This is your classic Cheers style kind of bar where you are treated like you have been a regular for years even if it’s your first time. Great drinks, excellent service & welcoming patrons. Easy parking, keno, pool, & a Touchtunes kind of jukebox 5/5 ⭐️
If a dive bar could be a chameleon, this place would be it. If not for the big mural screaming "Pump House," one would think this is the management office for the adjacent apartment buildings. Don't be fooled, for once you find this gem off of the beaten path of SE Kalamazoo near 42nd Street you will find a great and relaxed atmosphere with down-to-earth regulars and a pool table, and the drinks are more than affordable making this dive of SE GR a must.
Chill vibe dive bar, cheap drinks, R&B on the juke, faintish smell of reefer in the air. Mix of Black and white folks just hanging out and getting along. Solid neighborhood spot.
Love The Cabin! one of my favorite dive spots. Alyssa is amazing! She's funny, attentive and makes every feel welcome whether you've been coming for years or are brand new. you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu but highly recommend the hot honey pepperoni flat bread and matt's wings. i'll come specifically for those wings, there must be crack in them! all around, great spot.
Nestled on the SE side border of GR and Wyoming, the Log Cabin welcomes you to the suburbs with a mixture of city and country culture. The food is fantastic and Matt is an incredible host. Regular trivia games and live music abound at this little frontier post. Highly recommend. If you ever get the chance to visit on a night when Matt is making his chicken wings, order them!!!! They are ON POINT!!!
Cool place for elevated sweet & savory waffles, plus coffee & craft cocktail options.
Such a great coffee house. I honestly think it much more than that, to be fair. The food here was amazing and the location was absolutely inviting. Our service was top notch and the quality of the offerings outstanding. Totally coming back here and absolutely recommend.
Convenient location for a quick breakfast meal. Expertly decorated, which gives off a great vibe. Waffles are cooked perfectly. They offer many styles of coffees but are pretty limited with tea offerings. Friendly service and tasty food. It did seem to take a long time to receive our food after we ordered, so of you’re really in a rush, you might want to explore other options.
Service was unstoppable; until a known regular with a history of causing problems chose to confront me. I noticed him watching the girl’s phone, so I mirrored his gaze. The mirror never lies. I bowed to him with peace in my heart. That’s when the service stopped for me. I never raised my voice. I didn’t escalate. But I was treated as if I was the issue. You still get five stars for the work you all do, but I ask sincerely: Should I come back? Or was clarity the problem all along?
Food here is pretty darn good. Not a ton of parking. Outdoor tables available. Ours was really wobbly though. Good service. A little too loud of music inside for 6pm Saturday, but otherwise this was good.
Local urban haunt with creative burgers & other pub grub, plus weekend brunch & lots of craft beers.
Server was great atmosphere was stellar!! The food had the potential to be great but it was cold my bill was over a hundred and my 3 year old daughter got burnt black chicken tenders witch was replaced with fresh ones a small recommendation would be to add some fresh garlic to the spinach artichoke dip and maybe serve hot food or temp the food going out because It was definitely cold!!
Food was pretty good, the nachos had great topping layering and made a bit of a mess. The dessert was my favorite part, Cookie Butter Banana Pie ❤️ Dog Friendly patio with a few notes. Public sidewalks aren't always the cleanest and my dog definitely found some of those long toothpicks used to pin a sandwich. There are only bar height tables, meaning your further from easy correction or control for learning pups. There was a dog bathroom station within 30 feet, which was convenient too.
Popular Irish pub with specialty burgers, flatbread pizza & many whiskeys, plus board & card games.
I used to love coming to this bar and playing golden tee and hitting the jukebox. It is now a shell of its former self. A soulless money grab with no personality. The workers are still great and provide excellent service, but it’s clear the ownership is only interested in short term profits as opposed to long term community investment. I hope the owners realize their errors and decide to become a staple of the neighborhood as they used to be.
I typically never leave reviews for places, but O’Toole’s deserves a 1-star review. This place has been the place to hang out for many of years, myself included. Always had great service, reasonably priced drinks and good food. But this place has gone down hill. I ordered their nightly special on Wednesday which is the smash burger, and it was horrible, so over cooked and no flavor. The staff and the management that used to operate the bar were always awesome and that’s what made it so fun to visit. The jukebox at O’Toole’s was always cool and had a great selection of music that people would always sign along to! They have since removed it, and switched to playing classic jazz music which you can’t even hear because it’s played so quietly. Never heard classic jazz music being played at an Irish pub… The lighting in the bar is so bright you can hardly stand to be in the place. When you visit now you can clearly tell people do not flock to this place like they used too, as the bar is not nearly as busy. Sad to see a local staple bar completely change the place from what appeared to be a huge hit, and change to a very unimpressive “new bar” after there so called remodel. Not sure the owners of this bar knew there target crowd, or have lost touch, but they are clearly losing the crowd that kept that place busy most every night they were open. Definitely won’t be recommending it to anyone after visiting recently.
I am staying at the Hilton and eat at Big E's every night. I have had such a great experience with Peyton as my bartender. She is sharp , funny , and a great employee . She is always smiling and attentive. I have had nothing but a great time while she is my server. She checks on me 6 or 8 times while I am there and is always trying to make my experience there amazing. I will continue to eat there as long as Peyton is my bartender. I travel a lot and have never had such a great experience! Thank You Ron Perez
Addy was the absolute best person to have serve us as tonight was mine and my wife’s first experience at big Es and it was nothing short of spectacular. Fun energy, playful banter, great food and good vibes. Drinks were never empty and anything we needed was there quick fast and in a hurry definitely recommend. By the way the hostess smiled so big when seeing us enter the building I had to ask if her cheeks were stuck like that. Will definitely be back.
Casual sports venue with TV screens & bar seats, offering a Chicago-style menu & team trivia nights.
There was a game going on when I stopped by Bob’s, and it was quite busy. I was able to get a seat at the bar thanks to a friendly patron, and the bar was quite nice. The beer selection was decent and prices were cheap, and there was a festive atmosphere in the place. The bartender was quite to-the-point, but they were quick in the busy crowd. This is a good, comfortable place to enjoy a drink in a casual environment. I’ll definitely be back.
Before there was ever a Uccello's or Buffalo Wild Wings, there was Bob's Sports Bar on Michigan NE. This is the OG of sports bars. I highly recommend this small joint for its authentic, down-to-earth feel & great food. The food is on point, be it the Bob's Famous Breakfast Sandwich, The Whiskey Burger, the Chicago Hot Dog or the best pickle pizza in GR. Bob's provides a living room type atmosphere to watching any game for the avid sports fan.
Daily happy hour & various mule cocktails in laid-back digs with an ice-topped bar & frosted taps.
I was told there is a rule that if you more than 2 drinks within 1 hour, you will cut you off? Never heard of that before, but when I left a 0 dollar tip, the bartender decided to come to my table and complain about it? It’s your right to cut me off as it is my right to leave whatever tip I think is fit. My bill was 20$ so you’re coming about 4$? Unprofessional. Didn’t get her name, but it was the older blonde girl. I won’t be coming back
So I have been going to go to this bar since 1993. When it was the old name and a very blue collar 3rd shift bar. When it reopened as Steel Cat it was still cool. NOT ANYMORE!. I want in and had my backpack since I'm on a bicycle. I was told by the rude female bartender. "You can't have all that in here" I was like what do you mean by all that. She's like the backpack and stuff. Backpack equals one item to her it was stuff and all that what. Play relaxing went down the street and spent my money at the Anchor Bar which is what I recommend to everybody. This used to be a cool bar.
Sports-centered find with 100+ craft beers plus beach volleyball, 60 TVs & live entertainment.
Love the Vibe at The Score! We always enjoy coming in for drinks, lunch or dinner. It is the best place in town for summer beach vibes. The food is fantastic, the selection of beers & specialy drinks is great. The overall atmosphere with the live music, sand, and all the palm trees is like hanging out in the caribbean! I love that they have indoor and outdoor seating to acommodate any weather conditions. Outdoor volleyball and other activities. It's a great venue for birthdays, Bachelor/Bachelorette parties and other gatherings, they have special sections (like the big boat) that you can reserve for your group as well. Special Shout out to the staff & managers. Everyone does a great job to assure you enjoy your experience, they are friendly and attentive. Ashley (Hostess) does a great job handling the crowd and keeping things organized & moving along. Logan in the kitchen rocks too. our food has been great and cooked to perfection every time. We've been lucky enough to have Chloe as a server many times in the past and she is on it. Now, as a manager, (Well deserved!) she seems to do a great job keeping things organized and the staff motivated to provide everyone with a fun experience. Looking forward to many more visits this summer. Highly recommend a night out (or several) at The Score!
Upon arrival, we were pleased to be seated quickly, though our initial impression was that the table hadn't been wiped down from the previous diners. Thankfully, our waitress was quick to notice and promptly cleaned it for us, which we appreciated. For an appetizer, we opted for the pickle chips, and they were a definite highlight! They arrived nicely crispy and boasted a generous portion size, making for a great start to the meal. Our entrees included the summer berry salad and the mahi-mahi. The salad was truly delicious, fresh and flavorful. The mahi-mahi, however, was just okay; while not bad, the accompanying vegetables were actually the star of that dish. Overall, the service was attentive and the appetizer and salad were excellent. While the mahi-mahi was a bit of a miss, we'd still consider returning for the standout pickle chips and summer berry salad.
I’ve been coming to this bar since I was a kid (with family obviously, and I’m 35 now). After a 4 year break I came back and while it looks a bit new on the inside it still has the atmosphere and friendliness I remember and love, even under the new ownership. I came on a Thursday, I had the olive burger and it was the best olive burger I’ve ever had. The bartender was awesome (she had purple hair with pink/hot pink in front, I’m not the best at identifying unique colors).
Visited here for live music which was good but the band took a good 35 minutes to set up. Small space so expect it to be very loud. Service was lackluster - we waited at least 15 minutes to even be acknowledged. Their holiday drink specials however were very good.
Comfy hub with build-your-own burgers & happy hours, plus live music & a game room with pool tables.
Good food and great service. We came here to watch the champions league final and they put it on the TV when we asked them to. The appetizers were quality and for a good price. Definitely recommend coming here to watch sporting events and have greasy fried food.
We always look for dive bars. Will definitely go back. Very chill place. The food was good. Drinks were cheap! Took a bit to get waited on. Very friendly staff. Hostess wasn’t very friendly but the rest were.
American restaurant with a long wooden bar & booths also features pool & karaoke.
This review is strictly on their chicken wings, nothing else. If you’re looking for good chicken wings then look elsewhere. $21 for a dozen wings that have got to be the tiniest, absolutely smallest wings I’ve ever seen. Even with the breaded coating they are tiny. If they offered naked wings they would look like they came off of a Cornish hen. I had to take some photos just to document the comically small size of these wings. In one photo you can see the drumstick bone next to a standard wet wipe pack for size reference. In another photo you can see a chicken “chunk”. Not quite a drumstick, not quite a flat. There was probably more breading than actual chicken meat on these things. This place should seriously consider getting a new supplier for their wings, or lower the price. Have always enjoyed coming to Z’s, but this is the first and last time ordering wings.
I came here because I heard the ribs were amazing. Turns out not to be true, they are very mid-level at best. Not a lot of flavor, and kind of dry. The service was really nice, and the atmosphere seems fun, the ribs do not live up to the reputation, unfortunately.
Great local hangout for good food, drinks and sports. My wife and I have been here a few times, we always get good service from Shelby behind the bar or any server we've had. Prices are reasonable and we love the food menu. I'm all about that Snoop Dog! Nice to have a local place that offers great cocktails and a great menu and a great happy hour. And it's a nice bonus with the sports action. Not gonna lie, I love the Mona Lisa sign too! Haha! Keep up the great work Bridge Street Bar. You are doing great and we are glad to have you here on Bridge Street! Highly Recommend!
BSB consistently exceeds my expectations. On top of excellent drink specials, the quality and value of BSB's dining is unheard of in this day and age. What really sets this place as a 5-star establishment, is the connection to the community. From grand deeds like giving out free meals for those in need, to small gestures of having memorial hearts dedicated to the friends we've recently lost, BSB shows caring in all they do. I highly recommend this place, the pickle fries and the Firebird are must-trys!
Globally influenced tavern fare pairs with craft beer in a modern easygoing space with a patio.
Great food and great drinks. Really cool vibe and really clean. Ordered the Brussels sprouts for an appetizer and holy smokes, the flavor, the cruch and the sauce, look out. I ordered the meat loaf and my dinner guest ordered the Cobb salad. The mashed potatoes were incredible. The meat loaf was the perfect texture and the bacon made it so yummy. The salad was fresh with all the fixins. So good would definitely visit again.
First, our hostess seated us outside and let us know immediately where the restroom is located. Our server, Mary, was quick to bring us our water and a craft filled with water. Those two things makes this establishment above most. Mary was attentive and prompt. The food was excellent, quality mixed greens salad, not white romaine or iceberg lettuce. I tried the turkey sandwich and salad. Tasted great. My wife tried the large salad with chicken and she thought it was excellent. The outside patio was nice, not garden like, but still nice.
Lounge mixes mellow candlelit tables with a lively dance floor & live music, plus local beers.
The health department needs to be called on this place asap, this is a photo of the bar back room, that cleans the dishes and lines. My digestive issues cleared themselves once I stopped visiting. Please don't subject your friend or family to this place. It could effect them negatively for the rest of there life. Then fun isn't worth it.
Wish I could give them a 0 star. Clearly racist and the door "man" puts his hands on women forcefully pushing them out if they can't dig their ID out of their bag in time for his patience. They will charge you to use the restroom. Not worth going .
Love partying there. Everytime they know how to show people a very very very good time.
I highly recommend this place! Absolutely love it there! Great atmosphere 🌹
I enjoy every visit! Clean bathrooms, good snacks, love the different events! Drinks are a bit higher priced, but not enough to not go and have a great night!!!
This is one of the best bars in Grand Rapids. Such a large array of local artists. Also, one of the best Latin nights in the city. This place has great food, staff, and a fun atmosphere. Also, it is one of the safest clubs in the city. If you are looking for a taste of the city, you have arrived.
I loved this place. It's really beautiful inside. The bar is in the rear and pool tables and shuffleboard in the front. It has the feel of a private club but it's friendly and down to earth. The bartender was beautiful and so very engaging. This would be a great place to bring a date. It's a "Cheers" kind of place where you can sit with a drink and the patrons interact. Or you can sit and chill quietly. This is a place a woman can come alone and be perfectly safe. Nestled in a neighborhood, this is a gem. Parking is to the right of the building. If full, you can park on the street. This night there was a kids party at one of the houses so there were more than normal cars parked on the street. I would have taken a picture of the bar but I don't take photos of people for privacy reasons. It's cool-trust me.
They don't serve food of any kind, drinks are a bit watered down for the price, and they lure you in with signs of "free pool" Wednesday, but dont have free pool unless your a regular...
I've been coming here off and on for years. Worked here for a couple years. Live right down the street. Chandra and Agon are the only bartenders I feel comfortable with and around. They are amazing and great conversationalist. They make us feel welcome and not like an inconvenience. They make it feel like the "old home dive bar" as it has been. 3 stars for service ONLY because we dont always have them when we come in. Other than that they are amazing !
we love the chance. have been going for years regularly. however, the last several times we've been there kristina or kristy? has been our bartender and each time we've had her there, there's been an issue. one time with our bill, another time not getting to us for 10 min even though there were maybe 4 people in the building and just little things here and there. i've worked in the industry so i get how it can be but she is extremely crude to customers and it's very uncomfortable to witness and be on the receiving end of as well, she yells across the bar instead of walking to a table, she yells at her coworkers, she ignores customers and honestly, she's just not pleasant to have as a server. she's actually the reason we stopped going so frequently and don't go unless someone else is working! you can tell customers don't like her either bc as soon as she shows up , the entire bar will clear out. love the food, love the other bartenders and it's a great time but she is bringing this place down.
Down-home hangout providing live country music, line dancing & a mechanical bull, plus pool & darts.
My girlfriend and her friends have gone a few times and is a cool place. The security there on the weekends she has gone is great. Saturday nite ( I am pretty sure of the names) Jamie ( she said was walking around) and Matt ( was security at the door) were amazing. Very friendly and kept an eye on everything. Were on top of the place and my girl and her friends felt at ease with them watching.. They will definitely be going back feeling safe. The bull is amazing and the live music rocked. She said any questions she had Matt answered professionally and Jamie was ontop of keeping the tables clear and open for people to sit.
This place is a lot of country and a lot of rock-n-roll. You name it they got it, karaoke, pong ball, billiards, live music, dance if you want, and yes, a mechanical bull. If you want a taste of Wayland, Lowell, Middleville, Dorr and Hastings right within the city limits of Grand Rapids, then this SE side dive is a must!
Local pizzeria chain featuring specialty pies & other Italian fare in a casual setting.
I like restaurants where the hostess gives you a choice of seating. Or asks where you'd like to sit. Peppino's had a few people at the bar but the restaurant area was totally empty except for one family. So the hostess, without saying a word, led me to a booth right next to the family. I wanted to sit one booth away but was told that wasn't possible. (There were also tables available and later I noticed hightops near the bar which I would have preferred). So Peppino's went immediately from 5 stars down to 2 or 3. The pizza was very good; the service was good; but the rudeness of the hostess means I won't be back nor can I recommend this place to others.
I got the double smash burger and fries. The burger was so slippery and hard to eat. It wanted to slide off the bun every bite so ypu had to hold it all in place every bite and get ypur hands super messy. The fries were cold and stale and they didn't give me the spicy ranch that I paid $1.25 for. I guess you might want to stick to pizza if you get anything from here. I won't be.
My friends and I had a great time here! We walked in on a Saturday and were able to get seated right away! The hostess was friendly and our server was great. Each of us enjoyed our drinks! My husband did the mystery drink and ended up enjoying his as well. The decor is super cute in there and the hanging lights give it a cozy vibe. There is an outdoor seating area as well that offers similar cozy vibes as well! I will definitely be coming back to this spot!
Great atmosphere, outdoor seating. Cocktails were unique but don’t quite meet the same level of quality as other cocktail bars in the area. I will still plan on coming back and worth checking out. Bartender was attentive and friendly
I had a couple of drinks at Dukes and enjoyed the time I spent there. It was fairly early at first, so my friend and I had no issues sitting down or talking. As the night went on the place became fairly busy and a bit louder. The drinks were priced well and the beer was cold. The fried pickles we ordered were okay, but maybe not fully cooked. We didn’t have any real issues, and it was an enjoyable end to the night. I’d definitely consider coming to Dukes again.
The people and atmosphere are absolutely amazing!! The drinks are delicious!! 😋 Everyone was very sweet and kind!! I would 100% recommend this place!! I'm looking very forward to going back soon!! 🧡
Sprawling former grocery warehouse features a range of eateries, a brewery, piano bar & comedy club.
Great for ArtPrize! Be sure to check out the great art they host!!! My own work can be found just to the right of entering the third floor ballroom!!! Sept. 18 2025 -Oct 4 2025
We stayed one night in Grand Rapids, and we did not plan to do anything but to go for a walk. We stopped by at BOB to see what is going on and it ended with a very nice experience! From the entrance to the bar everyone was very polite, great energy and good food. Happy hour deals are excellent! If we’ll have a chance we will come again!
Went on a Sunday night to a Jake Scott and Maryann Taylor concert. Great little spot for an intimate and personal concert experience.
Elevation is by far one of my most favorite concert spaces in all of the city. I've had the opportunity to see and discover many great artists and bands simply by visiting this space. The atmosphere always lends itself to an enjoyable and favorable experience. The space is quite small but it provides a more private type feeling which I appreciate. In some ways it's like the artists and bands are playing in your own home.
Dueling pianists upstairs encourage sing-alongs while the ground-floor eatery dishes American fare.
Great music from several musicians, all very talented and ready to play your favorite by request. Fun audience participation too.
This is a review for the second floor. The first floor is decent if that is your vibe. But no food is a big negative. Plus this last weekend first round of drinks the male bartender on first floor charges me for doubles. Which I did not order and I literally watched him make and they were light singles. A 2 second poor max. I even said to my wife wow that was a light poor. Then charges us $29. The second floor is supposed to be more of a dance club. But the last few years they leave it very bright up there. The vibe is all wrong for dancing. People want it dark and play recent music. I just visited this last weekend because I seen they are bringing in new DJ’s. I was hopeful that would help the music but I was very disappointed. The playlist was more like a rave. Every song was mixed and not in a good way. Plus super bright white floodlights on.If you don’t turn the lights down the best DJ in Michigan will not fill that place. If this is the new example of talent coming in things are not looking good. 10 years ago it was packed every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Now it’s dead every weekend and not even open Wednesdays. It’s not only the DJ it’s more about the ambience. It’s great you are trying to improve I hope it gets back to how it use to be. It could with good talent and proper lighting.
Wood-accented Irish pub with a happening vibe, offering pool tables & a calendar of live-music acts.
We went for a show for TheWestside and LOVED the vibes. This place is awesome, atmosphere is fantastic, bartenders are some of the nicest people I’ve met at a bar. Drinks are average price(maybe slightly cheaper, it’s been awhile since we went out). Overall a great lil pub. They even have an upstairs area that you can view the music area of the Pub. Cool place, even cooler people.
A group of 8 friends and I went in around 12:30 am to grab some drinks for one of our 21st birthday (the rest of us are already 21 +) they let two of us in and then stopped the rest of us for having “fake IDs”… we’ve been to 4 other bars so far tonight and we used our IDS to get into all of them, they said we’re lucky we got our IDs back and he literally SCREAMED in our faces for us to get out. The IDs are literally real so idk what their problem was but the screaming is 100 percent unnecessary
Went here after work to celebrate a Bday. Drinks and food here were great. Lovely rooftop atmosphere. My qualms: the waitress had to come back several times tell one of us that they were out of something ordered. To be out of half the things on the menu @ 4PM on a Thursday was a little shocking but we brushed it off. The waitress asking if we wanted our checks multiple times when we were actively still ordering and eating was a bit off putting.
Went here for drinks. Every drink was wonderful, we were a group of 11, and got lucky to walk right in on a Saturday night! I wish i would have more photos of the skyline and the overall atmosphere inside of Knoop. It was great. Since we were a larger group, we basically tried most of the drinks and loved them all!!
Stopped in for my birthday and absolutely cannot recommend this place more. Mikey was the bartender and he was AMAZING. Give that man a raise cause he was slaying drinks out all night long. Pudding shots also are absolutely amazing. If you’re looking for a chill bar in Grand Rapids, this is it.
Bartenders are really attentive and it's a good spot to grab some beer. One if the bartenders has some awesome tricks too. Chubbier fella had gold chains.
Nightspot featuring dancing under a strobe, plus karaoke, DJs, male strippers & drag shows.
Bar service always great. Need a new DJ, it’s all just “jump” songs. The bouncers are just plain RUDE, man every time I go there. This last time I went, some of us knew some swing dances and we were yelled at for doing swing lift that was barely off of the ground. Then he was accusatory and acting like we knew better. POST A SIGN for people to read instead of treating them like garbage for something so insignificant. Each time I go there, new unspoken pop up rules.
They definitely have a beautiful renovation. We recently attended a Sunday Evening Drag Show, and it was a fun time! Dee Dee Chaunte was a riot! Clean, comfortable, and a nice rack of lights! The floor was beautiful, and the queens were fabulous. The fabulous Monica Parker was a TREAT, as always.
Cocktails & dancing offered in a cosmopolitan lounge on the 4th floor of the Big Old Building.
The service is very good. The lighting and sound system are decent but could still improve. But the music that is played here on most nights is terrible. Dj Ryan is the only dj they hire that does a decent job. The rest of the DJ’s are literally playing stuff from the early 90’s to early 2000’s and it’s not even the top hits from then. Last weekend I was googling songs as they were played it was terrible. Wonder why there is never a line at the bar and half the VIP’s are gone. The sad part is they can’t fill the VIP sections that are left. Wonder why ???
Dj Ryan Henry is so good! love the nights he's booked, it actually feels like a club! However the other djs never read the room, most people aren't dancing and me and my group leave early because the music isn't good. Music is outdated, repetitive and not danceable, I'd love to hear new djs or new music!
Pop bands perform at this spacious hunting lodge-themed hub with a patio fireplace & American grub.
Over all everything was great until the bill came. They charged at 2.95% admin fee. Then I gave her cash and she didn’t give me the exact change. Establishments really need to start rolling their fees into the prices of their food because this admin fee makes me want to never come back. And stop rounding up without asking and not giving the correct change.
I just moved in downtown and decided to give this place a try despite the poor reviews. Walked in to get some dinner and the place was empty. The employees were devoted to playing their YouTube playlists on the tvs and despite have no other customers, they totally ignored me, so I walked out. Then, last night, the were violating the noise ordinance and keeping me awake until about 2am.
Eastown Sports Bar is not anything special. The food is very low quality and the atmosphere feels dirty. If you're looking for a dark dirty sports bar, this will fit your needs. I know some people are drawn to that and that's perfectly okay. This place has the potential to be something real cool, but it just feels neglected. It's dusty. The food was microwaved. It could be fun. But the night I was there, it was a let down.
This was my first visit to this establishment, and I was thoroughly impressed. Jania (sorry if I’m butchering), a young lady working there, managed to assist us and everyone at the bar with incredible efficiency and professionalism, even handling a large crowd on her own. She absolutely nailed it! The venue itself is beautiful, with a welcoming atmosphere and dedicated staff. For those who know, this spot used to be the old Intersection, but it’s been transformed into something truly special. The food was excellent, and the crowd was wonderfully diverse in age. This place has officially become my new go-to bar. A big thank you to the hardworking staff and the owner for creating such an exceptional experience!
Relaxed haunt featuring DJs, live country bands & line dancing, plus an extensive list of spirits.
The people in front of us were allowed in because they apparently knew someone inside, the rest of the people were left outside for a long time. The “bouncers” decided to talk negatively outside to the people who were waiting in line, which was comical at best. The bouncer also told the crowd how much weights he could lift as if that was somehow relevant. Overall I thought this establishment was classless. By the time we actually got in there was multiple people we made friends with who were talking about how the bouncers didn’t realize their IDs were fake. We left shortly after we realized how many 18-20 year olds were inside getting drinks because we didn’t want to get dually implicated when they got caught letting minors in. Kind of a gross experience, GRPD please investigate this establishment.
Arrived at 6:40 on a Friday night. My wife and I were the only ones in the entire place. We sat patiently for a few minutes one waitress came out in her cell phone. We were in no hurry, but after waiting for 15 minutes we we're never acknowledged and only received an occasional look from the waitress while she remained on the phone. It is too bad she had no desire to do her job. We obviously left without ever being talked to or served by anyone. Horrendous service if it stays open I'd be shocked.
