I reconnected with my friend from high school in Portage and he was really excited to have me try the food at RJ's Sports Bar & Grill at 8118 Portage Rd. The bar may not look like much but do not let it’s looks deceive you, the visit was completely worth it. I tried RJ’s Swiss Mushroom Burger and it was one of the largest tastiest burgers I’ve ever tried. The meat was tender and juicy; the lettuce, tomato, and onions were fresh, and the fries were good, too. They also have hot dogs, wings, fried pickles and jumbo shrimp. I hear the cheeseballs are something to try as well. The Bartender was helpful and attentive and sitting on the patio was a serene experience. If you are out in the Kalamazoo area, you need to try the burgers here. Arrive hungry or you may get full before you get halfway done with your meal. Bon appetit!

Very nice bar, it has been here for over half a century, some bartenders make really good margaritas, the one I had Friday was way off so i switched to a mule, that was really good. The outdoors area is beautiful, it has a beautiful massive tree that must provide great shade during the hot summer months. They have a couple of cornhole games outside which is nice however almost everyone was smoking and vaping all sorts of items and herbs so if you are asthmatic like me, you will need oxygen; we went inside, but because the doors are fully open, and the area inside is small the smell just comes in, this combined with the fact that people who smoke outside and give a big exhale as they walk into the door ugh, we had to leave. The good is really good, the first time I had wings What was that long thing in it? See the picture, I circled it, my son and husband both had burgers and they loved them as well as the fries. I will probably do take out, but the fun of eating out, is actual, well, eating out.

I love their burgers and the fried chicken sandwich. Onion rings are good as well as the hot pepper cheese balls. I gotta say I think their prices have gotten a little outta hand ($13.95 for just the chicken sandwich NO SIDES INCLUDED) Seems a little steep, but it always hits the spot.

Do NOT order the rubber ducks. I mean wings. Ate one and sent them back; was still charged full amount. Burger was a normal pub burger, not go out of your way burger. (Note: basket is not included in the price. Fries are an extra charge.) The chicken tenders were at least hot. But not worth $13.00. Service was decent but knowing how much we spent and not even a discount for the wings was poor service. It’s very dim lit and 1/2 of the pool tables was out of service. They have Keno! TVs are out of since with volume for games. Just a local hole in the wall.

No drink specials but delicious burgers. Wait staff is always friends but could use a 2nd bartender. Nice patio area out back with 3 corn hole boards. Bags are provided but I recommend you bring your own if your a serious player.
