Kiss the cook? I’d rather kiss the bartender😉 Nice local vibe with happy regulars. I ordered a salad and they warned that it was warm and I said ok. Once I got it and ate it, it was very flavorful and delicious with black eyed peas collard greens and cornbread. A little oil heavy but it’s a bar! And it was clearly not a salad, but a “bowl”. I don’t think they understand what a bowl is .. term for a mix of rice and vegetables, etc. because they laughed at me with the suggestion. “It is served in a bowl.” No matter, they have great service and a warm environment so overall I recommend this spot!

Good: our server was great! She was very attentive and accommodating when we changed our mind and wanted to eat at the patio, she did with a smile. We had cheese curds as an appetizer and it was really good! Bad: our burgers were bad. I had the bandito burger and the whole thing was soggy, the meat looked white, almost as if it was boiled I only ate about half until I decided I was fine. My wife had classic double and she could only take three bites. Pictures shown are exactly how we left the restaurant. We could only eat the fries. It was us just trying something new in the area but burgers here are not worth it.

First time at this excellent venue: The audio and lighting are great; the staff is wonderful; the club layout is fantastic; the drinks were reasonable for a club and tasty! Shout-out to the staff for being great people! Brian Simpson had a killer set, and was awesome to talk to after the show. We'll definitely be coming back to this venue.

This place is a vibe! We enjoyed everything about this place except for the lady who spent a solid 10 minutes on the phone during the show… and a solid 20 more minutes talking/fighting with her partner… and I know what your thinking, how is that the establishments fault? Well I watched the bartender and the ticket taker look right at her repeatedly. Have some respect for live performers and enforce your rules.

I came here with a few friends and enjoyed one of the many live shows. We sat in a booth for a bit and that was comfortable. We migrated outside and the patio was spacious, cozy, and had a fire pit (which was cool). We ended up at the bar and servers/patrons were super friendly. I'll definitely be back to enjoy another show, 5 stars from me!

Charming, satisfying, and one-of-a-kind, my first time visiting The Nook left nothing to be desired. A great spot for wings, burgers, and beverages, The Nook is one of the best of what the Twin Cities has to offer. I was blown away by the spacious bar and dining space, complete with a bowling alley and an interior plastered with dollar bills signed by customers. Endlessly re-visitable, I’m grateful to the friend that brought me here and can see myself being back. My thanks to The Nook!

First time ever experiencing cheese curds and the burger with melted cheese from the center !! I can’t remember our waitress name but she gave us the best recommendation. This was my first time visiting Minnesota and I was thrilled to have found this place. If I ever return to St. Paul’s I will make it a point to come back. I thrived the sweet potato fries - cooked to perfection seasoned with sugar and cinnamon (I prefer Ceylon cinnamon). The original cheese curds - it was like funnel cake and cheese without the sweetness. And the nook burger- the patty was seasoned so well!! First time I’ve ever wanted to lick a burger lol.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 10/10 Experience – A Perfect Venue with Exceptional Service! We cannot say enough wonderful things about The Commodore Restaurant in Saint Paul, Minnesota. This was our second time using this stunning location for wedding photography, and once again, it exceeded all expectations. The timeless, Gatsby-style elegance and historic charm of the venue provided the perfect backdrop for our special day — the ambience alone is worth the visit! A very special thank you goes to Lydia, the on-site coordinator, whose professionalism and attention to detail made everything seamless. From our very first interaction, Lydia was incredibly prompt, thorough, and kind — she truly understood our needs and went above and beyond to accommodate us. She made the process of securing the location easy and stress-free, even offering suggestions to help us make the most of the space. And to top it all off, the team surprised our wedding party with a complimentary bottle of champagne — such a thoughtful and classy touch that made us feel truly celebrated and welcomed. We wholeheartedly recommend The Commodore to anyone looking for a rich, elegant, and dapper venue for photos or events. Whether it’s your first time or your fifth, this place continues to impress. Thank you, Commodore, and especially Lydia — you helped make our wedding day unforgettable!

Very cool ambiance, like stepping into the 1930s. Excellent old fashioned and bee’s knees martini and cheese curds were great. Service was friendly, however still working out the bugs on timing as it’s only the second day of their soft opening. Parking is limited but easy to find street parking.

One of my favorite local live music venues! Nice sized stage with great lighting and sound. Staff is awesome, always friendly. Parking lot parking, can get crowded during busy live music nights but I've always found a parking spot. They'll check ID etc. right as you walk through the door if you're there for live music events. Pool tables, darts, etc. make for a great place "to hang." Food and drinks are good too!

I've been to the Dog House several times typically to watch a live band. Always had an exceptional experience. The crowd was small for a Saturday night. But the band RIVAL5 was on FIRE!!!! The Dog House offers an extremely varied array of different entertainment throughout the month. I think I'm going to check out their Texas hold'em games on a Sunday evening next.

Beautiful atmosphere and spacious, great for small groups or to just chill at the bar. I had the fish sandwich with fries. Fries were still undercooked and the fish had no flavour presented on a bun with raw cabbage and tartar sauce. Gave the food a 1 but drinks were great, will try something else on the menu a next time.

Took a friend here for his birthday. The atmosphere of this place is upscale but not intimidating and still cozy. I was a big fan of the previous Dark Horse and this revival pays homage to the old one in the best ways possible while adding something new to the atmosphere. In keeping with the "spirit" of the old space: a refined and expansive spirits menu. Mocktail options, THC choices, a generous selction of cocktails and other things on tap. Try the wondrous punch (not pictured) - it comes with a special surprise. The food on this menu is excellent. We've got croquettes, of which there is only one pictured on the plate, because we ate them that fast. PERFECT texture. Crunchy crispy on the outside, buttery and warm on the inside. I had these for the first time a few weeks ago and when I tell you I dream about them, I do. The rigatoni had a good al dente texture and was a little on the spicier side. I enjoyed my chicken sandwich which comes with a housemade Thai basil aioli. My chicken sandwich was perfectly crisp on the outside, but juicy and tender on the inside. The breading was also well seasoned. We also enjoyed the shishito peppers. Do not be alarmed: these do not pack a punch when it comes to heat. They are chewy, fragrant, and have a sweet aftertaste which pairs well with the lime sauce and cotija cheese. It's great to see this gem return to the neighborhood and I hope to be back here again and again.

I came here on Sunday with a reservation with friends. The parking is very limited and tight. You can either park in their parking lot or street parking. We luckily got a spot in the parking lot. The pavement in the parking lot is a little rocky and has unevenness so if you are wearing high heels, just be careful. Upon entering the restaurant, we were not greeted. we also had a server and his demeanor and attitude was expressing that he did not want to be there. We were also disappointed that most of their food items were not available. We had request requested for a few items and things, but we’re not completed at that time. The server also did not ask if we wanted to tip but proceeded to give himself a 20% tip. Overall, besides the service, all the food was great and brought to us in a timely manner.

This place feels like a legendary music venue. It’s an intimate venue for great music and dancing. The bar itself feels like a dive bar. The focus is the music. The drinks are basic. The food is basic. The music is top notch. I saw The Good, The Bad and The Funky. They’re amazing. Huge brass band playing all sorts of hits.

Very good venue. There's even an area in the front of the stage to dance to if you bring a partner. This place seems to take pride in its history. The French fries were impeccable. Crispy to the perfect amount. However, it was just a little hard to order; maybe they were short-staffed that day idk. I've never been here before. I was confused that I had to go through the back entrance, as the front was locked. I don't know why that was.

Never thought I'd be heading to a bar for BBQ but YOLO! Turned out to be a winner!!! Went with a friend for Memorial Day because we didn't want to grill ourselves and thought we'd try it out. Our server was so nice and patient with us! We sat out on the patio and it had covered and uncovered tables which I loved because the more sun the better for me 10/10. Now let's get to the BBQ!! We did the Brisket nachos and damn they were 🔥 10/10!! I took a risk with the potato salad and won, all it needed was a little salt and pepper and when I got home put celery seed in and banged it! 8/10 on the potato salad. I ordered the rip tips that came with a brown sugar glaze and honestly they were really tender and cooked great but too sweet for me. I added some BBQ sauce to them and loved them 8/10. The wings had so many sauce options it was hard to pick so I went with a dry rub and they got me right! 9/10. This might just be my new BBQ spot!

Best wing prices I’ve found in the Twin Cities — $11 for a pound of wings, which is $2-4 cheaper than other places. Nightly food specials Mon-Thurs also offer good value (Mon $10 burger & fries, Tues $8 for three tacos, Wed $9 for six wings + fries, Thurs $13 bacon cheeseburger). Burgers seem overpriced however. Food is good. Fries are pretty standard. Ordered a brandy old fashioned which was made wrong (guessing the bartender thought it was made the same way as a whiskey old fashioned) and cost $9, far above dive bar prices. Beer was cheap however ($4 for a blue moon). Service was friendly, warm & attentive. I was there on a slow evening though so not sure what it's like when it's busy. There is an upcharge for using a credit card. Vibe, decor and cleanliness were standard dive bar.

Honestly, we really enjoy Hoggsbreath. But there are a few things that we don't love. Overall, I would definitely recommend going, but know that it might not be for everyone. Pros The staff are SUPER nice. Seriously, like all of them! Their waffle fries are amazing Super solid chicken wild rice soup Bingo is great! We always end up having fun conversations with the people sitting around us Very nice 'neighborhood bar' feel Their food and drinks specials are good We've never had any trouble parking, but the lot is somewhat small Cons Service can be pretty slow, even when they aren't that busy Burgers are pretty basic and not that great. We got a Jucy Lucy and there was no cheese in the middle. You could tell there had been cheese, but it must have all leaked out or something I think the wings are a bit overcooked and have too much sauce (my husband likes them though) They have a 'smoking area' that's right next to the patio. The wind blows smoke down the patio and by the back entrance. We've come with our kids and prefer to sit on the patio (since the inside is a pretty standard bar). The kids were really bothered by the smoke at our last visit and we ended up just eating quickly and leaving. Bingo is really fun! They provide the daubers and there is so much energy and great music. Service during bingo is better when you sit at the bar, because they get really busy and it's packed. They give out freebies (gift cards or a percentage off your bill) in between rounds and donate all their proceeds to the Little Canada Fire Department. I'm sure their other events are fun too, but we've only done bingo. Definitely give Hoggsbreath a shot, but know that you might need a couple visits to figure out what you enjoy (food and events). I also recommend leaving the kids at home.

I went there for brunch with some ladies and it is a great vibe. I like that area. The location is perfect and the restaurant itself has a nice fun vibe to it, but it is not vegan, friendly or raw vegan friendly. So I just sat and watched my friends and conversated and had some fun and they said the food was phenomenal. Unfortunately I was not able to enjoy any food platter or vegetable platter or anything raw vegan like so on my friend scale they say it was superb
