Amazing local community watering hole! Best bar food in town. Drinks are made with love and so is the food. The bar is full of all the classic bar memorabilia that make this place feel like a Time Machine in the best way! The staff is also amazing friendly, funny and professional. One of the only places that are still cash only which add to the nostalgic vibe. Perfect place if you want to enjoy a drink without all the extra frills!
Great place. Great food. Nostalgic atmosphere. Awesome staff. Can't wait to go back.
First time here. Loved the chill vibe. The food is delicious and elegant looking. Met the owners and Chef Tommy. He really is master of flavors. Highly recommend the endive salad and the green curry sea bass. For dessert I recommend the pistachio gelato with espresso poured over it. Can't wait to come back and try other dishes.
This place has it all, knowledgeable beer and wine staff, excellent and refreshing selections of beers and wines you don’t see elsewhere; and an amazing interior. The vibes here are somewhere you want to be, the food is flavorful and executed with care and perfection. 1915 is leading what the future of Poughkeepsie can be; this is a must Mixed cheese plate has excellent high quality smoked Gouda, blue cheese, American cheddar The green curry is an excellent pairing of crispy sea bass and Serrano peppers, which meld perfectly The Sousa vide duck is crispy but still manages to melt in your mouth in mind numbing confusion Get over here guys
Just fabulous! Went here after visiting Vanderbilt mansion in Hyde park. Atmosphere is very friendly and drinks are crafted to perfection! Wonderful vibe; blessing and wishes for a successful business!
They gave us our first drinks pretty quickly and I will say, their whiskey shot and expresso martini were good, so we wanted to try more drinks mentioned in other reciews. But we never got a chance, because both bartenders forgot about us, choosing to be on their phone the entire time. This was around 8pm on a Saturday night and we were one of only 3 patrons. Their "food" is just something they heat up in an oven and serve it at marked up prices.
Absolutely without a doubt the best live music venue in the Hudson Valley. Incredible live sound. Immensely friendly staff. An insane variety of events, shows, and DJs. I don’t even drink and I have an absolute blast every single time I go there. All of the love to Meg and her team. One of my favorite places to go to a show
Friendly bartenders, good drinks, and a younger crowd when I visited. They were showcasing local talent and upcoming artists, which made for a cool experience. The vibe was more laid-back overall, but there’s a dancefloor area where the artist performed, so you can enjoy both chill hangs and live music. Definitely a nice spot to check out.
Love this hidden Gem in Poughkeepsie! Went here because other reviews talked about bourbon selection, and I was not dissapointed! Great bourbon selection. Jules the bartender was the MVP, so helpful and the nicest lady you'd ever want to meet. I went by myself and had a stellar time. Didn't go golfing, but will think about it next time. Food was excellent, really enjoyed it! Definitely will be back. Edit: Came back and Greg was a superstar bartender! Still a great bourbon selection and great food. A mandatory visit when I go to Poughkeepsie!
It's closed. There's a realtors lock box on the door Reply to owner. The sign just says indoor golf is closed, not the restaurant. Also, all online sources say open. Perhaps you should update to Temporarily Closed. I was looking forward to your amazing bourbon selection, as I like to try different places while traveling.
First time ordering here, i ordered a cheese pie for $18 and some change.. When the pie gets to me i couldn't believe they let this pie go out. I call and speak to manager, "Jack" gets on the phone and i stated how this pizza should have never left their establishment, Jack says well you can bring it back tomorrow for a new pizza or refund.. after i say tomorrow?! He says or tonight smh. I will never order from here again.. wish my kitchen light was on so you can see how burnt the crust was.. and $18 for a cheese pie this small?!
Wow! Best pizza in Poughkeepsie! Cracker thin crust and it's SOURDOUGH! Delicious meatballs! Very friendly service...owners Chris and Eli are hardworking and friendly and accommodating. Great music and ambiance as well. Reasonable prices. Check out their build your own pie option.
Classic & innovative American pub grub, plus craft beers, served amid dark wood & brick accents.
Great atmosphere, very cozy and family friendly. Upon arrival I was greeted by Jess and the girls they made me feel so welcomed, I felt that fit right in. Nice and clean, staff were very professional and helpful. Thank you Jess for making me feel comfortable. I would definitely recommend this place for a quick bite and a drink. Plenty of parking and outdoor dining. I recommend the Lobster roll and the Paloma cocktail.
My Aunt, cousin, & I went to Tavern 23 otherwise known as T23 & we had a wonderful time. It was Friday night around 5:40 pm and we were offered our choice of inside or outdoor seating. We chose outside up on the deck and it was beautiful. I wish I had taken a video. The bistro lights and overall ambiance were magical. This place is a hidden gem in Poughkeepsie. Our waitress was fun & spunky. The owner now produces her own canned hard ice t and other flavor beverages. My Aunt had one and loved it. The food was all delicious. The nachos were huge - a full sheet pan heaping. Would highly recommend these to share or if you want leftovers to take home for yourself. I would try the tuna protein option over the Thai noodles in place of the steak next time. Perfect portion. We did not have dessert. Couldn’t fit it. We were too full in a good way.
New American dishes are served in this modern, colorful space with a lively bar scene.
Food is good (steaks), steak fries is the best value. MP meals are a bit high (20%+). VG service. Desserts - lemonchello sorbet and creme brulee are outstanding, we'd return just for these desserts.
The food was INCREDIBLE. It was engaging to be so close to the kitchen and see bits and pieces of the action. Our waitress Hannah was wonderfully personable and friendly! She provided five star service for sure! Can’t wait to come back for dessert because we were far too full to fit it in this time!
Homey pub with a large beer garden offering craft beers, plus sausages, burgers & updated bar food.
Schatzi’s offers a nice draft list of some good beer, good sized portions, and friendly staff. We got seats at the bar and had good service the entire time. We were given the wrong specials menu which was disappointing because one of the specials sounded perfect for me but I got the Schatzi’s burger instead and it was a bit dry. Slightly overdone and not enough of their sauce, I think the potato pancake on top absorbs it and left the rest of the burger dry. Great sized meal though. My wife got the fried chicken sandwich and it was pretty good. We would stop again and see what’s new next time we are in Poughkeepsie.
Wife got the chicken sandwich and it was dry, like chewing leather. My sausage was good. Service was also really bad, granted we were a party of 10, wrong and mixed orders. It also took forever to order. We also got a visit from the local raccoon, kinda cool but prob not safe. One positive, they had Vermont beers on draft.
Friendly service at this casual neighborhood bar makes you feel welcome. We saw a local act, the McCaffrey Brothers with Dave Laffin. We all sang along to about half the songs. People were dancing around the pool table. We had so much fun! Easy to step outside for a smile, and there’s plenty of parking in their lot.
Date night with the husband. Drinks and pool. Great bartender, great atmosphere
Always a great time. Their food never disappoints and their service is always outstanding. For my gluten free friends, menu is clearly labeled and staff is willing to answer questions and help you out. I highly recommend the wings or gluten free pies. For their food in general, they have an expansive selection of pies and salads, giving options for everybody. Their food never disappoints. Their drinks are outstanding, always a great selection of special cocktails and their beers (from what I hear from my friends) are amazing. You can either sit inside in their gorgeous, modern dining room or outside on the rooftop with a beautiful view of the Hudson. Be mindful of what time of day you sit at the rooftop though! It can be very hot if you don’t have a table with an umbrella and the sun beating direction down at you. The staff on the roof is helpful with seating and umbrellas. The staff is always attentive and always helpful, I have never had a bad experience there. Our waiter on the rooftop yesterday 7/4 was awesome and we had a great time. We loved the 4th of July spirit even though we didn’t go to the rooftop party at night. I love bringing friends from out of the area here and I can’t wait until the next time I come back!
Zeus Brewing: A Masterclass in How Not to Treat Your Guests My fiancé and I came up from Manhattan to house hunt and were genuinely excited to try Zeus Brewing. It looked beautiful online and seemed like the kind of place we could see ourselves frequenting if we moved to the neighborhood. Being craft beer lovers, it was one of the top stops on our list. At first glance, the space lived up to the hype—clean, modern, and inviting. We were seated quickly, got water within a few minutes, and thought we were off to a great start. But what came next was an absolute trainwreck of service and hospitality. We sat at our table for twenty minutes—yes, a full twenty—without anyone taking our order. Three different staff members walked past us multiple times and didn’t so much as acknowledge we were there. A wedding party showed up about 5–8 minutes after we were seated, and suddenly the staff’s ability to multitask or even make eye contact vanished. Frustrated, we went up to the bar hoping for better service—and were met by someone who appeared to be the manager on duty. Unfortunately, he was not only unwelcoming but dismissive. He avoided eye contact, gave off zero enthusiasm, and seemed completely uninterested in having us there. We felt like an inconvenience, not guests. I asked for extra onions on my pizza—he forgot, didn’t apologize, and only after the food sat untouched for ten minutes did Bridget (one of the only bright spots in the experience) come by and offer to fix it. She was the only person who acknowledged the issue and showed any sense of care or accountability. She even apologized, which is more than I can say for the manager, who seemed checked out from beginning to end. Here’s the part that’s hard to ignore: as a person of color and a gay man, I couldn’t help but notice that all the non-ethnic guests around us were greeted quickly and served attentively. I don’t know what was behind our treatment—but the contrast was striking, and it left a bad taste that no craft beer could wash away. What makes this even more disappointing? We just put an offer on a house one block away. This could’ve been our new local spot—somewhere we’d bring friends, family, and out-of-town guests. But after this experience, I wouldn’t recommend Zeus Brewing to anyone. Now here’s the twist: we ended up going to Schatzi’s Pub and Beer Garden afterward—same ownership, totally different world. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a smile, seated quickly, and received warm, timely service throughout. We sat in the back patio and were still checked on frequently. The food was fantastic, the drinks were cold, and most importantly—we felt welcome. We stayed for hours and spent money happily, because that team understood what hospitality means. If Zeus wants to succeed in a community like this, they could learn a lot from the crew at Schatzi
New American eats in a sprawling space with standout views, striking decor & a serpentine bar.
The views and atmosphere are terrific! But the food is very average. There’s a lot of seafood in the pasta so that was nice but the noodles just fell apart under our forks. The sauce was also not that great for both dishes. A good move would be to come here for the views and grab a light dinner, so you can eat elsewhere too. We still had a good time and would recommend for the vibes.
The Price of Breathtaking Views Shadows on the Hudson offers true destination dining, nestled at the end of a winding route that descends from Union Street Historic District down Poughkeepsie's riverbank bluff. The restaurant sits just 50 feet from the Hudson River's eastern shore, perched 40 feet above the water's edge. From this elevated vantage point, diners enjoy stunning panoramic views of the river and the iconic Mid-Hudson Bridge stretching across the water. The decor still pops, the views are still magnificent, and the table settings still suggest fine dining ahead. Stepping into Shadows on the Hudson at 176 Rinaldi Blvd in Poughkeepsie is more than just going out for a meal; it's an experience. From the moment you arrive, the floor-to-ceiling windows frame the magnificent setting. The ambiance inside is a perfect blend of sophisticated elegance and comfortable warmth. Tasteful decor creates a chic yet welcoming atmosphere. It's the kind of place that feels equally perfect for a romantic anniversary dinner or a celebratory gathering with friends and family. I can definitely see it as a special place with an upscale atmosphere for those Friday night drinks after a week of work. Like the ruby-throated hummingbird, we migrated from Florida north for summer to the beautiful area that we called home for most of our lives. To a special meeting of family at the Shadows. A once-a-year family tradition for years to enjoy the company of loved ones while either taking in the breathtaking golden hour moments when the setting sun sets the Hudson ablaze, turning every ripple into dancing light. Or at other times monitoring boaters below threading their way into those narrow slips at the adjacent Shadows Marina - oddly mesmerizing. For those arriving by boat, the restaurant offers dockside dining service, delivering their full menu directly to boat slips. Unfortunately, it's clear from our experience and other recent reviews that the food and service don't consistently live up to the spectacular setting. Chef John Malone, formerly of the majestic Mohonk Mountain House, has helmed the kitchen here since late 2023. By all accounts, he brings impressive experience to the table. Unfortunately, that expertise must have taken the night off. The tone was set by the bread basket: stale. Not in the charming 'rustic, crusty' sense - just straight-up neglected. When our server came by to apologize for the delay with our appetizers, we asked for a fresh basket. She forgot, so we had to remind her again when she delivered our appetizers. Fresh hot bread eventually appeared. When the food finally arrived, my wife ordered the Garlic Shrimp on Garlic Baguette appetizer with confit tomatoes, garlic, and lemon in white wine sauce for $24. She ate only the four shrimp, leaving the baguette untouched. Later she admitted it was 'because she needed something to do while the rest of us ate.' The baguette—normally known for its crispy exterior—had become a waterlogged 'bog-uette,' completely saturated with sauce. I played it safe with their Soup of the Day for $12 - what appeared to be a take on Portuguese Caldo Verde. While the flavor base was sound, the execution fell short. The soup lacked the silky, cohesive texture that defines a proper Caldo Verde, instead presenting as a somewhat disjointed collection of sausage chunks, carrots, and wilted greens in a thin broth. At nearly NYC pricing, I expected more finesse. This felt like an $8-10 soup at best. After the 35-minute wait for appetizers that failed to satisfy, much less impress, and glasses sitting empty after the initial pour, no one was inclined to order another course. We'd had enough and asked for the check. Though we did not stay, I still want to give you a sense of their pricing: pasta dishes range from $26 to $38, while 'Land' entrées run $32 to $58 per person (or $135 for a 40-ounce Tomahawk Ribeye for two). 'Sea' selections fall between $35 and $66.
Great experience.. Nice atmosphere.. Ty the host was pleasant and accommodating.. I went with 2 of my girlfriends for Sunday brunch.. The menu had a good selection of brunchy foods.. I would love to go back again.. One suggestion would be to add bacon 🥓 to the pb&j sandwich..
Let me start off my saying that the bouncers were nice & the people inside seemed nice, & they had good music. HOWEVER it was very very loud and you had to scream just to have a conversation also a $25 cover charge is ridiculous for this. It was kind of dirty and the bathrooms were gross. We got a hookah for $43 which is INSANELY OVERPRICED & they did not even let us pick the flavor. Was an okay experience but I would not ever consider going back.
They have the best bartenders!! The food is absolutely amazing. I have had every item on the menu and have never had a bad meal. The drink selection from draft beers to alcohol is great. Bartenders always have a smile on there face. Been coming 10 years and it never disappoints.
An underrated local bar that exceeds expectations and builds an atmosphere of belonging. I've been away from NY state for 6+ years, and what I have craved the most is a local bar with a cozy atmosphere. Not somewhere to escape from the monotony of daily but somewhere that adds to your enjoyment of living in the local area. My favorite meal was the french onion soup but the mac and cheese and pulled pork was great as well. JD's has the best aspects of a local bar that I wish I could find in other places around the country: warm seating area, great food, and staff that knows and cares about regular customers and their families. I will absolutely be visiting again when I come back to the Poughkeepsie area. I highly encourage others to visit and experience a bar that is not just located in but a part of the community.
Casual Irish pub & restaurant with a steak & seafood menu plus TVs, karaoke nights, DJs & more.
Stopped in while waiting for my car at the mechanic and I'm glad I did. Some fish and chips with a couple pints of Guinness did the trick - and the bartender, I believe his name was Eli, was super friendly. Would come in again!
Excellent food. Our server was just absolutely fantastic. I feel bad about nit remembering his name, but this kid was just on point. He memorized all 8 of our orders (food and drink)... only 2 people got the same food. The bill wasn't expensive either. It was affordable with really good elevated Irish American food. Check it out! We will be back!
American comfort fare in a refurbished '30s-era tavern with an old-timey, dark-wood interior.
We had the absolute sweetest server Ria! We came in as a large party last minute and she took such amazing care of us. Food was great service was even better! French onion soup was amazing!
Came to this place after my best friend’s wedding! Food was amazing and Ria took care of a crew of 20+ people incredibly. 10/10 recommend the derby to anyone visiting poughkeepsie that wants the dive bar vibe with great food! Get the french onion soup!
Concert venue & bar with a limited food menu, live bands, comedians, karaoke & open-mike nights.
I went for an event. There wasn't enough seating. But overall the atmosphere was nice. Had it not been a seated event, there would have been no issue. The bar was very slow, only 1 bartender that night.
Great place for club vibes, and to book events like Baby Showers, Birthday Parties, Anniversary etc.
Tropical-themed chain offering spiced-to-order wings with an array of sauces, pub grub & a full bar.
We got Hurricanes delivered, so many choices on the menu. Probably the best mozzarella sticks you can find anywhere. Great nachos. Good tasting burger. Over the summer, it's always fun to catch live music here. We will be back again for sure!
The food here is delicious, I love the atmosphere, and the service here is great. I just got a cheeseburger and boneless wings. My server Kevin was fantastic and I loved that he constantly kept checking on me to see how I was doing or if I needed anything. I would highly recommend this place!
Man, how times have changed. Saturday night, 10-15 years ago this place was flooded with women. The stage was in the center and allowed for seating around it and now its like a stage for local musicians. Not to mention they had a "showcase" and i waited nearly 25 mins before seeing some skin. They had 3 dancers! 3! They all looked alike, wheres the meat? I was sooo disappointed, $16 to get in and watch local rappers was the only money i was willing to give at that time and i left with way to much cash in my pocket.
Just want to say the employees at this establishment are phenomenal but management should be ashamed. the manager, some older guy, seemed sleezy and rude!
What a great place to eat at ! Food was great , drinks were outstanding and the atmosphere was to die for .
The food is great! Great service safe environment with a great variety of music and djs on special days !
Came to see the band Lady Evil perform a great set. Excellent guitarist and the lead singer had some pipes! Great covers of Ozzy, Dio and Sabbath. A nice bonus was the food! Waiting for our order I saw their chicken wings looked large and well prepared. My ribs were okay, certainly tender and tasty but they seemed to be baked not smoked. I was more impressed by the sides; collard greens were well seasoned as were the string beans, but my wife and I both thought the baked beans were extra tasty. The real surprise was how incredibly good their fried shrimp were! Nice plump Jumbos lightly coated in a perfectly seasoned flour with an obviously House-made tartar sauce that was better than most! If I go back there I'm going just for the shrimp! If you love fried shrimp that's not completely masked in heavy breading then this place is for you!
So on my adventure of trying new places I came across this place to share with all, so let's start off with we ordered the ultimate sampler that had some wings and shrimp as well as ribs it wasn't bad I asked for the wing flavor to be garlic parm but was more like a Italian dressing but wasn't to bad, then I ordered there brisket when I got the mashed potato they where piping hot like they came out the microwave but where not to bad as I went to try the brisket and it was terrible it was old so I asked the waitress how old it was and was told that they made it the night before but was frozen and as you can see in picture this was older then the night before I go to other places and when the brisket comes out it pink with a nice smoke ring, on the other plate we got there pulled pork and the same it did not taste good at all and seemed to be old as well, if you look at the pictures you can see how they looked, I probably will not come here agin.
