It was my first time. I had heard a lot of great things from friends saying it was fun and nice! One of my friends was so excited to go out, and I was too because it had been a long time since I had been out. When we got there, the show was going and the drag queens were fabulous! Then it was time for dancing, and my friend wanted to dance. An older guy followed us to the dance floor and kept getting closer and closer to my friend and wiggling his eyebrows. We went outside. Going back inside, and girl asked if she could dance with us because the same guy started getting uncomfortably close and not taking the spoken word "no" for an answer. We went back outside to talk to the security guard that looked really cool. When we explained what happened, the security guard told us "he's just really weird and socially awkward and needs friends. If he does something then I'll do something about it" or something similar. The security guard told us the creepy guy did that a lot, and that he just wanted to make friends. We were more than upset, but there was nothing more we could do. We tried to go back in to dance. I noticed the same guy and stepped between my friend and the guy. He moved to stare at their chest behind me and kept getting closer. The girl went to buy a drink, and the creepy guy went to insistently try to pay for her drink. She kept telling him "no thanks" at least 9 times before I stepped between them because he kept inching closer to her if she looked away. The bartender named Glenn told the creepy guy to leave her alone. The bartender served other people at the bar, then left, came back looking at the girl as if she was an alien. She said her drink order to him again, and ended it with saying "yeah." I can understand and see the "yeah" coming across as sassy or rude, but it's a club. It's loud. You can't hear anything unless you yell, and sometimes tone is thrown off by the yelling. Glenn the bartender repeated her "yeah" in a passive aggressive comeback and then told her she was cut off after her one beer. We went outside, group hugged, then left. The drag queens were sweet and lovely, the security guard seemed cool part of the time, it was fun to dance a bit before the creepy guy showed up. But overall, it wasn't a good experience.
I have a friend visiting from Melbourne Australia who had not seen any of our LGTBQ+ venues in his 3 months here so far. Chemistry blew his mind, he loved the drag show performance the ambience and inclusivity. We had a wonderful time dancing!!
Small night club. The drinks are very affordable and good. Young crowd. The drag show was alright. I've seen better. But what the drag queens lacked they certainly made up for in personality and ability to engage the crowd.
⭐ 1 Star — Unsafe and Disrespectful Environment for Women My friend went to Chemistry expecting a fun, safe night to dance, nothing more. Instead, she was followed around by a creepy man all night, even after repeatedly telling him “leave me alone.” She went to security several times, and their response was basically “he’s just weird” doing absolutely nothing to protect her or make her feel safe. Throughout the night, this man continued to follow and stare at her, and security kept saying they’d “keep an eye out” but never stepped in. That’s not acceptable. That’s negligence. To make things worse, the bartender was rude, dismissive, and openly disrespectful toward women. It felt like women weren’t welcome there at all, which is incredibly disappointing and ironic for a space that’s supposed to represent inclusivity and community. If Chemistry is going to treat women like this, then they should be honest and say they only cater to men. No one! gay, straight, or otherwise, deserves to feel unsafe, uncomfortable, or disrespected in a bar that claims to be part of the LGBTQ+ community. Chemistry is a toxic environment and completely fails to create the safe, welcoming space it claims to be.
My go-to place when I'm in town and want to have a great time! Only $7 to get in, unlike other clubs in Greensboro charging $20 like did you forget where we are?! The DJ knows what to do! Music keeps you on the dance floor! Drinks are so delicious! Shots look like doubles💯 Food is good, plus the food truck outside! The queens be doing their d@mn thing! The atmosphere and people are great! I always leave with new friends!
