Had a great time 4th of July at the hot dog eatong contest they hosted. They even had the Coney Island contest on ESPN just before. A little packed, so service was a hair slow but not bad. Great vibe here--I'll come back for some gamedays to check out the atmosphere / ambiance then. Food available was fine for a bar.
Good for a sports bar but that’s it. Food is just plain bad. Here’s a pic of the pastrami sandwich, basically no meat. Nothing like their instagram. My kids also got a barely cooked pizza. Beer prices above average.
From the moment we walked in, the service was absolutely outstanding! Michelle took care of us and truly made the experience unforgettable. Her professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail were exceptional—she went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. The food was just as impressive. The burger was juicy and full of flavor, and the guacamole tacos tasted incredibly fresh and delicious. Everything came out perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. What truly set this visit apart was Michelle’s outstanding service. She anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, offered great recommendations, and made us feel so welcomed. It’s rare to find someone who delivers such a genuine and exceptional dining experience, and Michelle truly deserves recognition.
Amazing experience all around. The service (by Michelle) was impeccable. The food was inspired and just delighting. I had the watermelon beet salad on bed whipped light cheese with candied pecans and the tuna tartare with avocado and wonton chips. Amazing. Will definitely come back when I’m in Richmond again.
Good place to socialize, drink and dance. Even though there is no dancing floor. The friendly environment and the male bartender is amazing.
This is the worst experience I’ve ever had. Don’t go there — the security staff are arrogant, rude, and uneducated. They treat guests very badly.
Fake blood-splattered bar offering meat & vegan pub fare inspired by the heavy metal band Gwar.
My family recently had a visit to GWARbar in Richmond, VA, which left everyone deeply unsettled. I was visiting my sister with my family when my wife and sister decided to go out for a girl’s night. They wanted drinks and wings and decided to try this place. My sister and wife — the only two Black people in the restaurant — ordered wings that were served completely burnt to the point of being inedible. What’s most baffling is how these wings made it past the kitchen, to the server, and then onto our table without anyone acknowledging how unacceptable they looked. The char wasn’t just a little overcooked, it was extreme, as if no one cared about the quality being served. When they complained, the order was taken off the bill, but the server simply tossed the food in the trash with no apology, explanation, or offer to make it right. The whole thing felt careless at best and intentional at worst. I hate to even suggest racism, but given the circumstances, it’s hard to ignore how my sister and wife were treated. This was a horrible dining experience that left us feeling unwelcome and disrespected. I would never recommend this place to anyone, and I sincerely hope GWARbar takes a serious look at their kitchen standards, staff training, and the way they treat all guests — because this was unacceptable. The last picture is how they were suppose to look, from their site
It does what it says on the tin, it’s a bar and there is GWAR everywhere in there. Food is good and the atmosphere is immaculate. If you love GWAR you should check this spot out.
Tiny hangout featuring live metal & punk bands in a space lined with quirky, horror-kitsch decor.
Wonderland Bar. First of all Yuengling. Secondly this is a bar for all ages. Embrace the weird and stay a while. The proprietor is funny and serves a mean mixed drink. Prices were very good and the atmosphere alone will keep you planted.
I was here visiting from Colorado and my son told me about this bar. Being a huge Rob Zombie fan, as soon as my son mentioned Captain Spaulding, I had to see this place. I LOVE this bar!! Met the owner briefly, and he was a super nice guy. I told him I was here from Colorado, but he had already figured I was from out of town. Guess walking around the whole place running live videos was a dead giveaway, LOL. Anyway, if you enjoy local bars with good music and great people, make sure to stop here when in Richmond. Even the regulars were awesome. Impressed! RIP Sid Haig
Hip lounge with an old-school vibe serving artisanal cocktails plus a menu of sandwiches & snacks.
Are you bored? Find yourself wanting to socially drink but don't drink? Look no further! The Jasper is the place to go ! The industrial old time look is the best! Dope playlist & speakeasy vibes. It was a little tight but everyone was courteous. The service was on point, we didn't feel bombarded nor rushed. I personally do not drink, so I was amazed when I saw non-alcoholic options! YES! I went for the coffee bean drink then the pineapple spiced (Forgive me I don't remember the drink names) and the spiced peanuts. The bill wasn't outrageous, I definitely recommend you all go ! P.S. it is Carytown..so parking is trash
The cocktails were really good and oddly way faster than expected. Complex cocktails on a busy Friday night in under 15 minutes for your first round!? Very impressed. The penicillin shot is a must. Incredible packaging. Market this more! Bring them around to tables. We had Caribbean Kween, Tartarian Fizz and The Beauregarde. So so good!!! We will be back anytime we are on Cary Street!
Love this place, especially cause they have a pool table... I drink all night for free,, and every body is friendly....
LOVE IT....IT'S BEEN A WHILE
Chummy Liverpudlian pub serving English & American tavern fare in a decor-rich, dark-wood setting.
We came here for the first time last night for my wife's birthday. She has been wanting to try it so our party of four came to eat. We all had a good time. We aren't drinkers but enjoyed the food. Our server was friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and cooked to order. Our server recognized my iced tea was weak and mostly water. She made it right by bringing me a different one and then we weren't charged for it! Overall, we had a great time here with our family celebration. Thanks!
A proper football club right here in Richmond! Great selection of European beers and all the soccer you could want to watch! We came in for the first premier league game of the season and were welcomed by so many friendly people! We didn’t try any food this time as we had just eaten not long ago but will definitely try some menu items next time!
Absolutely incredible. I wrongfully believed the food would be mid-tier as they seem to be primarily focused on drinks here. However, the pork belly tacos had me swaying like a little kid. The Mellow Monkey is great if you love banana. Can’t recommend this place enough!
The Emerald Lounge made the best drinks I have tasted in a long while! The music selection was tastful for the vibe, and decor was exceptional! I did not care much for the starters that my party and I chose. The wings were bland tossed in sauce, and the pork pot stickers needed more time in the pan for browining. The spicey popcorn was an added welcome with the drinks. This is a must visit spot if only for the drinks and atmosphere!
Didn’t have much of an appetite so I ordered a Turkey club with fries 👍. OMG ! It was so delicious my appetite came back ! The bartender was so attentive and courteous ! I will definitely be a returning customer . I must try the other menu items !!! 😊
10/10 Brunch was AMAZING! Our server was so nice (I believe her name was Annette) she gave auntie vibes and made us feel like we belonged there. Now on to the food: If I could have the shrimp and grits everyday and not get fat I swear I would order it from here every single day! I don't know what magic the chef has in his hands but there were no complaints from anyone in our group. My best friend got the chicken & waffles and she was in LOVE! The chicken was cooked and seasoned to perfection and she let me taste her waffle because WOW yal must have a secret ingredient because i've never had a waffle like that in my life, it didn't even need syrup to be honest. The drinks were amazing and balanced, not to strong or watered down. All in all, I WILL be returning VERY soon to get the lunch and dinner experience. I already know I want to try the Seafood Mac and Cajun Pasta.
Greek fare plus sandwiches & pizza are offered in a stylish tavern space with a bar & patio.
We stopped for a late dinner and were delighted. The patio features garage doors which allowed us to enjoy the beautiful fall weather. We started off with artichoke dip, which was delicious. For mains we had the Monkey and a plain burger. The burgers were well seasoned and formed fresh on site. The artichoke dip had a significant amount of artichoke and was well balanced. We finished up with a brownie sundae. The service was great and the food came out promptly in the right order. Everyone was very friendly and happy to see us.
We had such a great time at 3 Monkeys! The cocktails were fun and unique — each came with a little monkey decoration that perfectly fit the theme. For food, we tried the crab dip and it was absolutely amazing — super creamy and flavorful. The wings with buffalo sauce were cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. We also ordered the Monkey Fries and Parmesan Fries, and both were delicious and loaded with toppings. The vibe was very chill and laid-back, a great spot to relax with friends. On top of that, the wait staff was extremely friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. Definitely a place we’ll be coming back to!
Uptempo nightspot offering a range of cocktails, beer & bar bites amid live DJs, bands & events.
Busy night, only one bartender and it was hard to keep everyone served but she did a good job. Didn't love the beer selections but they had 1 sour I like. Like that the band area is close to the audience ie: no barricades keeping us xft. away Overall cool place and I'll be going back. Didn't eat there but food smelled good!
Any time I get the opportunity to come to Fallout, I'm there. Old-school goth night, Metal Beat, Fresh From the Crypt, a variety of live music from artists new and old that I love...I've been making the 80-mile trip for a couple years now and I will continue to. They have been gracious enough to let me guest spin a night before, and I am so appreciative of it. Jackie and the crew are genuinely so caring and are a staple of the Mid-Atlantic alternative circles. We are so lucky to have Fallout as distant city neighbors. Support this space!! (Btw food and drinks are always amazing. YUMMM.) I 🖤 Fallout forever and ever!!!
Upbeat LGBTQ bar with Southern pub fare & a patio, plus drag shows, karaoke & line dancing.
It has been about 5 years since I was here. I was thinking about returning. I see there has been a lot of negative changes. My last visit was so boring. I called my ex husband for conversation and was playing my own music through my cellphone. A patron was at the bar with her miniature toy dog hanging from her purse as if it were drunk. (That was the only entertainment) No one came to take my order. I'm a indigenous "black" woman by the way.🪶🪶🪶My best friend and I used to frequent this place 10 years before that. Back then, everyone got along regardless of "race". I loved the diversity. The D.J. that was there was a long haired white guy and he was awesome. The place stayed packed. The drinks were out of this world and so we're we. Lol. Babes has truly fell off. How could you allow political views and their agendas affect such what was once a beautiful spot for all to safely enjoy themselves? Bring the beauty and the love back!!!!
Place has such a nice and welcoming environment! They got plenty of bathrooms, and they are all single stalled so you have privacy. I love the dance floor and the back yard area the most. The food and service is just excellent! The only thing that I would say that stinks is that at night it’s a 5 dollar cash cover only, it would be nice if there was a Venmo or cash app options as well but just come prepared and you will have a great night !
DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING IN YOUR CAR. IT WILL GET BROKEN INTO. CLUB KNOWS ABOUT THE BREAKS THAT HAPPEN EVERY WEEKEND AND DONT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. Pretty sure they are in on it. They have 2 cameras outside but they don't even work.
An okay spot to hangout out not very friendly staff but the place is alright.
I love going to papis it’s always a vibe and the music hits. Love how welcoming they are to literally EVERYONE. The bartenders are their own vibe and super friendly. Always 10/10 recommend. Have met a few strangers turned long time friends here.
The vibe is great at Papi's ! Super cute decor , really good food, and music. I love that they have a dance floor & bar upstairs and downstairs. Our waiter was nice & attentive as well. We stayed for the drag show tonight, which was fun. I'll definitely go back.
The best club in Richmond. I had the greatest time of my life at Pure Pleasure. Pixie made me feel like I could relax and have fun, pixie is definitely a fantasy girl. The environment was extremely welcoming and the girls were all so much fun. The drinks were heavy and fairly prices and the food was really good. I will definitely be returning💯
I've given this establishment several chances, but unfortunately, my experiences have consistently fallen short. The atmosphere feels unwelcoming, and there are several serious issues that need to be addressed. To start, there are concerns about the authenticity of the currency used within the club, and the drinks often seem watered down. The food is hit or miss—not terrible, but on more than one occasion, it’s made me feel unwell afterward. More troubling is the behavior of some staff and dancers. There have been repeated displays of prejudice and discriminatory attitudes, which as a customer, is both uncomfortable and unacceptable. While there are a few individuals who are genuinely friendly and professional—some of the dancers and at least one bartender—this isn't enough to justify returning. The entertainment value is also lacking. The music selection is uninspired and contributes to an overall dull atmosphere. In its current state, I cannot recommend this venue. Significant changes in management, staff training, and overall quality control would be necessary for a better customer experience.
One of the better establishments in this genre. Girls are very friendly. Bar prices are decent, and they don't jack up the price if you buy a dancer a drink. Private dances are available but way too pricey, especially for just a meeting with Poppa Chubby
So, I'm just going to say that their CHEAPEST lap dance is $560 and it goes up from there. If you get there after last call, you won't get any alcohol with your dance (you get waters and red bulls instead). The young lady, I danced with was nice, but, she didn't do a good job dancing. In closing, I don't think it's worth it to pay that kind of money for effectively a dry hump, with no alcohol and a dancer who's not that good. The staff was friendly, the food and drinks were reasonably priced and the atmosphere was cool. I'd go again. I just wouldn't get a lap dance. It's VERY overpriced. Cheers!
Went on a Thursday evening and it wasn’t very busy so we were able to get a seat outside. Staff were all friendly and service was good. Views were nice and a nice atmosphere. Drinks were good and we just had a plate of truffle fries to pick on. They were nice crisp and tasty as well. Overall it was a great time and we would go back. I read a few bad google reviews and I can kind of see where some of them come from or could be an issue on a busy night (but wasn’t for us). Entrance is off the street and you have to go through post office entrance to a bank of elevators on the left (there’s signs inside). The QR system for drink ordering was convenient but maybe all the kinks aren’t worked out? The bartender came out once out of 2 rounds to ask us to confirm one drink and it wasn't a big deal like they weren’t sure where it should go. The drinks do not come out super quick….on a busy night could be worse. My friend commented on the music at one point, which others had in reviews. It wasn’t boring or sleepy though. Just somewhere in electronic genre and if that’s not what your used to or your vibe, you might notice it. Maybe they are trying to find their identity a bit still? Maybe having different music nights might help suit different tastes.
I was in Richmond for a Reunion and stayed at the Hampton Inn Downtown. Imagine my surprise, and joy, to find there was a rooftop bar. I ran up (I was staying one floor below it), checked out the view and grabbed a salad. I had the Kale Caesar salad with chick peas and shaved Parmesan. It two generous portions of chicken that was seasoned well and cooked to perfection. I ended up getting two meals out of it. There was a bit of a wait for the food, since it was Friday evening, but everyone checked in to make sure I have been served. I was even offered a glass of water. I went back the following day to take pictures and saw that they were setting up for some type of reception, which would be a great venue. Since it was early in the day, I was able to get great pictures of the view and the overall patio area. Sadly, I didn't get to spend a lot of time there to sit and enjoy. But I will definitely make plans to visit again.
Very bad and rude service My friend and I arrived and parked the car in the parking space at the club. When I got to the door and paid for the ticket to enter, the security guard came out to tell me in a very bad way that I was not welcome inside the club and that the club manager had ordered him not to let us in. When I told him that I wanted to see the club manager, he told me that he did not want to see me and they kicked us out.
Horrible place they kick customers out as soon as they walk in the door of the club and for no reason, I would say they practice some racism
such a vibe. the only house/dance club that matters in richmond
I had a really uncomfortable experience at LoSo during the Black Techno Matters event on 6/20/25. One of the bouncers at the main floor entrance was way too handsy and pushy with women coming in and out, including friends I came with. I saw him grab or steer women by the waist or shoulders without asking. At one point, he followed a girl all the way to the other entrance after she tried to walk away, and only stopped when we blocked his path. It was uncomfortable to witness, and I haven’t gotten any response from LoSo after reaching out about this.
