Best place ever.owner doesn’t have Parkinson’s
Live music, free salsa lessons, the most courteous staff, delicious drinks and food. I often play here with my band, Friendly Fire. MJ and company provide a wonderful ambience at the ROQ. It is always a pleasure to hang out and play here.
I had the Pub Burger w cheddar cheese and added bacon. Very fluffy fresh bun, excellent hand pattied burger with good beef flavor. Burger to bun ratio was perfect. Fries were hand cut and flavorful. All made in house. I suspect nothing was frozen. Go here. It's delicious. Oh yeah and the people are nice too!
I'm torn on this one. A coworker wanted to go here for lunch. She wanted to eat in, not a choice I would have made. Inside and out, this looks like what, as a kid, we would refer to as a "beer joint". However, it was surprisingly busy so, okay. There is a sign near the entrance that says, wait here to be seated so, we waited. After being ignored for a while, someone finally asked if they could help us. Yes, we want to have lunch. Oh, just sit anywhere. Then why the sign? My coworker ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and I got a spicy burger (I don't remember the name but it had pepper jack cheese, jalapenos, and hot sauce). Both came with fries. When my coworker commented that the fries were good, I was confused. Mine were obviously old and reheated. They had that mealy texture that potatoes get when you reheat them. After eating a few, I got to a fresh one and she was right. They were good fries. Apparently, I got the last of an old batch mixed with the first of a new batch. She said her sandwich was good. My burger had decent flavor but was so overcooked that the patty was hard and dry. Even with hot sauce dripping off it, I had to add catsup (it's all they had) for more moisture or I'm not sure I could have finished it. We kept waiting for the check and finally asked for it. Apparently, their Internet service has gone out and they couldn't process any credit card payments or even tell us how much we owed. They actually offered to make the meal free but I added up our meals from the menu prices, added enough for tax and tip, and paid them cash. Overall, not a place I would choose to eat but, if that's where the office wants to order lunch from, I'll be happy to try something else. I wouldn't recommend eating in, though.
Snug, informal eatery featuring a selection of modern bistro dishes made with seasonal ingredients.
Noah's is a cute, elegant restaurant. The atmosphere was wonderful and the wait staff was great. Our food was just okay. Not terrible, but just okay. I ordered the lamb. It was under seasoned and one of the medallions was overcooked. The potatoes I ordered reminded me of a potato lasagna, starchy with gritty cheese. I should have gotten the pureed potatoes that my husband ordered, they were better. Dessert saved the meal. I got the lemon sorbet. It was absolutely refreshing. Again, overall not bad, but probably not fully worth the price of the meal. Might have been an "off" night or maybe I needed to try something different.
Suggested to us by a friend. We were in town for a concert and anniversary dinner. Quiet, with just the right amount of hum of fellow diners to the room. Lovely decor. Service by Cheryl was kind and efficient. No one asked if I was working on my plate still and she moved quietly around the room. Delicious cocktail. Our meal was beautifully plated and tasted so good. If I lived in West Virginia I would go to Noah's once a month.
Food is fantastic, bartender great, clientele friendly. Definitely intimidating looking for suburban types passing through, but this place is awesome. Had bologna sandwich and it was the best I've had. Hidden gem.
This place is truly a hidden gem! The wings came out hot, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor—just the way I ordered. I tried the naked wings with dry rub, and they were outstanding. The bartender was quick, friendly, and had everything out in no-time. I also appreciated their transparency about frying the wings in peanut oil—it really brought the flavor to life. The menu is simple but full of solid choices, and the prices are very reasonable. Great food, cold drinks, and excellent service—can’t ask for more. I’ll definitely be back!
My oldest daughter wanted to see her first drag show during the Pride fest in Charleston. We went in expecting it to be busy. I have bartended for 22 years in downtown Charleston so I expected to wait for drinks, no biggie. Show up and pay $5 each at the door. We make our way to the outdoor patio area and I see an old friend standing at the bar. I walk into tell him hi and happy birthday, and the male bartender yells at me and says “buddy, the f’n line is back there ( 20 people deep). Rude af. So, I told him I wooodnt dream of ordering anything g from him, I was just saying hi to a friend. Go back in to one of the other bars to find it less packed but still a decent amount of people. The older lady behind the bar had some young bartender working with her that clearly had never bartended before. That’s ok, gotta learn and sometimes be thrown to the wolves. What isn’t okay is looking out at a line of about 15 people and just standing there talking to all of your friends at one end of the bar while your helper plays with the lid to a Sprite bottle. Not to mention they moved at the pace of a three legged turtle. After waiting and watching five other people leave, I decided 17 minutes was long enough to ever have to wait for a bartender to acknowledge you at any establishment. Went back to the door guy to see if he would be kind enough to give me my cover back since it was impossible to get a drink, and he says “you would have to talk to a bartender about that”. Sir… you mean the bartender that won’t talk to anyone but the three people at the end that already have a bucket of beer? He scoffs and turns to walk away. I’ve visited this establishment about seven or eight times over the last two years and it gets worse and more stagnant every time I show up. Tonight was the last 10 I’ll ever spend in this place. Rude ass bartenders and bartenders that don’t give a single damn about customer service.
Somehow I’d been going here for about a year before trying the food, it’s great!
Local hangout featuring live music & open-mic nights in unfussy surrounds with pub grub.
Classic friendly dive bar, everyone was so friendly and the beers were cold. I was stopping through Charleston on a larger Amtrak trip and this was one of my favorite watering holes I discovered during my time there. I was there for an hour or two during Jazz night too which was an even more fortunate coincidence.
Found this hidden gem a couple weekends ago! I almost drove right past it; the exterior is very unassuming, but as soon as the bouncer opens the door, you feel the chill, welcoming atmosphere. The bartender was sweet, attentive, and accommodating, and there was no shortage of good company and conversation. AND the East End Ghouls put on a freaking amazing show!! A true dive experience, I definitely recommend and will definitely visit again!
Casual game-day spot offering hot sandwiches & other pub grub, with TVs, music & an upstairs lounge.
The spicy chicken sandwich was the best I have had anywhere. Love that everything on it was perfect! The French fries were hot and tasty. Husband got the Reuben sandwich and also commented on how tasty his food was. I did give him a bite of my sandwich and he did say, "you won" so I think my sandwich was better. Service was good and food came out in time expected to cook it. We went after lunch (around 2 ish) so there were not that many people in the place. We would definitely come back.
I got the Sam's burger which was great. That addition of a little sausage does the trick! The french fries, while basic, were very good and arrived at our table hot. My wife had the grilled chicken sandwich, which was good but she was disappointed with the chips, expecting warm, homemade ones but they were ok. The bartender was our "server" so had his hands full with the bar and all the tables but he did a pretty good job of keeping us taken care of. You had to go through the "private" part of the bar, through some storage, to get to the restroom, which made me wonder if I was in the right place, but it was clean and fully functioning. It is more of a bar than a restaurant, with a "bar" feel but overall, we were satisfied and would indefinitely become back for that Sam's burger!
What a fantastic experience we had! From the moment we walked in to when we left, it was a grand time! The service could have been better for our table specifically however I believe this employee was still in training. The food was to die for! The cheese fries were phenomenal! The fries were so crispy and well seasoned. I did enjoy the pepperoni roll also, but my favorite dish was the burger! The meat was seasoned generously, and if they had brought out the burger itself without any condiments or toppings I still would have eaten it with a smile. Yes, it was THAT good! We will be back and in greater numbers!
This was our first visit an The Bucket didn't disappoint. The prime rib, served on Thursdays, was served exactly as requested. It was so flavorful, well seasoned with a kiss of smoke. Our server was very nice and the atmosphere is family friendly.
I have to start by saying I was invited by friends to meet here. I'm not usually interested in going to bars, I was told they had food and I was hungry. First, it's a bar and it serves food fit for bar flies. I read the menu offering of something to the effect of roast ribs with au jus gravy, au gratin potatoes, with grilled asparagus and baby carrots and thought I'd try it. I was hungry so I ate it but it wasn't at all worth the $15 it cost me. The roasted ribs or whatever it was advertised as reminded me of straight up canned roast beef that likely come from the dollar general down the street. There was actually some roast involved, but it was covered in something canned for sure. Very watery and very greasy. Once I used the salt and pepper packs I was given with it, the meal actually wasn't bad tasting. It was just too greasy for my taste. I get it though, greasy food and alcohol go hand and hand. The veggies were honestly my favorite part of the meal. They appeared and tasted grilled. A grilled veggie medley would've been a better meal choice imo. My friends tried a reuben and a cheeseburger. They also ordered chips with their sandwiches instead of fries or rings. I tried a chip, I didn't mind it, but my friends said they were too salty. And the friend who ordered the burger said it tasted good but was too messy. My server seemed really busy, if I was guessing she was the only server working. It took quite a while to place my order and another diner I didn't know asked for my menu when I sit it down. I wasn't sure how long a refill of my water might take, so I nursed it in case. I can say I appreciate that they did check id's at the entrance. And they had karaoke advertised certain nights and a friend mentioned they had a lady's night sort of thing going, so that's nice. The location is fine, it isn't far from other food choices at least. If I went back, I'd fill up somewhere else cause the red carpet lounge is meant more for drinks.
My type of bar. Awesome karaoke host on Friday. Great sound! Has a back patio where you can smoke and have a drink. Great service, and great people.
Stopped in to have a couple beer. Staff was nice and drinks were always full. Good music playing. Good little bar hidden away here. I didn't try the food so only rated it average but if it's as good as the service it'll be delicious.
Love it there, great food, great staff they make you feel like family first time you go there you’ll leave with your face hurting from laughing and smiling so much!!!😂
Festive hangout offering poke bowls & sandwiches by day, specialty martinis & dancing by night.
101 Bar has a distinctly rustic, old-school charm with a wonderfully rough-around-the-edges atmosphere. Their late hours were a lifesaver after a long day of driving. The absence of a drink menu was slightly confusing, but the overall vibe made up for it. The Baja Maki delivered impressive heat while maintaining excellent preparation and presentation. Though no chopsticks were provided, it didn't detract from the experience. The balanced presentation spoke for itself. The Seared Ahi Tuna was notably salty, which somewhat masked the quality of the fish preparation. Despite this, it still delivered a powerful punch of flavor. The fish itself appeared well-prepared, though the saltiness made it difficult to fully appreciate.
Nice. Not overly fancy but still really nice. Bar service and cocktail creation was professional and friendly. When we arrived it was almost empty so I wrongly assumed something was wrong with the place but was pleasantly surprised at every turn and the place was hopping by the time we left. Good food and decent prices tend to put people in a good mood. I think my favorite thing was my last drink out on the sidewalk patio in the middle of summer.
