In town for a quick visit and stumbles upon this place. It was an absolute delight! the atmosphere is like a speak easy. perfectly lit- cool and romantic. We sat at the bar and watched Karli the mixologist do her magic-every employee was engaged and helpful. the drinks were delicious and the food was creative and fabulous. we got the charcuterie board -fresh and thoughfully prepared. hit the spot. we can’t wait wait to go back again. if you’re headed to bangor stay at the Phenix and go to Barlimans!

Shocked to see some of these negative reviews. Sure, these are Portland prices, but you'll quickly realize it's so worth it! The food & drink quality are unlike others in the area. Barliman's is elevating the dining scene in Bangor. One of the biggest selling points is that the staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. If you are in a hurry, do not dine here. The point of this place isn't to get in and get out. It's all part of the experience!

I loved Barliman’s — cozy speakeasy vibe, inventive cocktails, and thoughtful farm-to-table bites. I found the service warm, music and décor fit the mood, though it gets lively and seating is tight. Prices were upscale for good, not great, drinks but the ambiance justifies it. A standout addition to Bangor’s bar scene. Highly recommend it.

A perfect spot to have stumbled upon, quite literally. We went with the charcuterie board, as well as the baked feta cheese with warm honey, roasted grapes, and walnuts. Divine. We sat on the outdoor patio, and the choice of music coming thru the speakers was very well chosen (Motown!). Will definitely be back!

Instant favorite. "Call the Doctor" was an immediate top five cocktail for me. This place is underneath an old chamber of commerce building and has a seating area inside an old vault. Dark, cool, classy, excellent bartenders.
